The 2024 LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held Feb. 23-24 at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. West Texas A&M is the defending conference champion on the men’s and women’s side.
The 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships are set for March 8-9 at Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kan.

MEN’S TRACK
West Texas A&M Distance Medley Relay Team (Aziz Mohammed, Malick Diop, Prince Mcabelo and Louis Moreau)
The West Texas Distance Medley team of Aziz Mohammed, Malick Diop, Prince Mcabelo and Louis Moreau broke a school record and posted the eighth best time in NCAA Division II with a 9:44.92 at the David Henry Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. The team, which also now has the top mark in the LSC this season, took third place in the event.
MEN’S FIELD
Hamdi Ali, West Texas A&M, Jr., Business Management, Doha, Qatar (DHS)
Ali posted a 7’-2.5 (2.20m) to win the high jump at the Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock, Texas. Ali’s NCAA Division II provisional mark is tied for third in the nation and tops in the LSC. The West Texas A&M junior started his jumps at 2.05m and cleared four heights on the first try in a row before getting 2.20m. Ali beat competitors from four Division I schools.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Angelo State 4x400 Relay Team (
Zykia McDaniel, Fatoumata Kabo, Jacent Nyamahunge, and Shadae Findley)
Angelo State’s 4x400-meter relay team of Zykia McDaniel, Fatoumata Kabo, Jacent Nyamahunge and Shadae Findley set a new NCAA Division II record with a 3:36.14 at the Jarvis Scott Open in Lubbock, Texas. The Belles won the event, beating out Division I schools on their way to setting the all-time mark.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Katryna Hernandez, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., Kinesiology, Skidmore, Texas (Skidmore-Tynan HS)
Hernandez won the shot put at the Grand Valley Big Meet in Grandville, Mich and had a school record throw of 15.48m (50’-9.5”). The Texas A&M-Kingsville senior’s throw is also an NCAA Division II provisional mark and ranks fourth in the nation.
