The LSC has two of the top five ranked teams in the country, according to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll. WT is the No. 1 team in the country for the second straight week (receiving all but one of the 16 first-place votes), while DBU is at No. 5.
 
WT (14-0) is the only team in the 16-team league unbeaten in conference play. DBU is 12-2, while Lubbock Christian is 11-3. Eastern New Mexico (10-4) and Angelo State (10-5) have also reached double-digit league wins. WT is on a league-best 15-game winning streak, while DBU and ENMU have won three consecutive contests each.
 
Angelo State is the only team in the league without a loss on its home court (8-0), while WT is the only team unbeaten away from home (11-0).
 
DBU has the league’s top-scoring offense (99.9 points per game), while Texas A&M International is tops in the conference by allowing just 67.5 points per game.
 
Individually, ENMU’s Jahcoree Ealy leads the league in scoring at 21.8 points per game, followed by and WT’s Larry Wise (20.6) and DBU’s Cameron Kahn (20.1). UTPB’s Lathaniel Bastian is pulling down a league-high 10.8 rebounds per game, followed by St. Mary’s Lachlan Bofinger (nine) and Lubbock Christian’s Tiras Morton (8.5). St. Mary’s Jalon Johnson is the LSC’s assists leader (five per game). Midwestern State’s Duncan Alevok has the most blocked shots (33), while DBU’s Ta’Jay Dunlap averages a league-high two steals per game.
 
LSC teams carry a combined 42-33 (.560) record against NCAA Division II non-conference opponents through games of Jan. 20. Region-by-region: South Central (RMAC) 21-20; Atlantic 1-0; Central 13-8; East 1-0; Midwest 1-1; South 2-0; Southeast 1-0; and West 2-4.
 
The LSC Basketball Championship will again be held at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The men’s field will be compiled of the top eight teams, based on conference-only standings. Division champions will automatically qualify for the LSC tournament, but are not guaranteed a top 2 seed. The men’s games will be held March 7 (quarterfinals), 9 (semifinals) and 10 (final).

LONE STAR CONFERENCE MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Games Feb. 1-3
 
OFFENSIVE
Larry Wise, West Texas A&M., G, Sr., Sports Management, Waxahachie, Texas (WHS)
Wise averaged 30.5 points, seven rebounds and 4.5 assists to lead top-ranked West Texas A&M to a pair of conference wins over Cameron and Midwestern State. Wise, who takes the league’s top weekly offensive award for the third straight week, shot 55.9 percent from the field and hit 17 of 18 free-throws. He also added one block and one steal while committing just two turnovers. Wise has now scored 20-plus points in six straight games. Against MSU, he scored a season-high 32 points and moved into No. 9 on the Buffs’ all-time scoring list. Wise’s play also helped WT extend its winning streak to 17 games.
 
DEFENSIVE
Tiras Morton, Lubbock Christian, F, Gr., Kinesiology, Austin, Texas (Buda Hays HS)
Morton pulled down 12 defensive rebounds, had three steals and blocked two shots to lead Lubbock Christian to conference victories against Midwestern State and Cameron. Morton, who takes the league’s top weekly defensive award for the second time this season, fueled a unit that allowed only 61.5 points per game and 40.2 percent shooting. Morton also added 16 points and 3.5 assists per game.
