Gonzales Leads LSC Men’s Basketball Academic Honorees

 
Lubbock Christian University junior Aaron Gonzales was named Lone Star Conference Men’s Basketball Academic Player of the Year and leads the five-player 2024 Men’s Basketball All-Academic Team announced by the Conference on Wednesday (March 6).
 
Gonzales, who is from Spring, Texas, is majoring in mathematics and maintains a 3.92 grade-point average. He earned LSC Men’s Basketball All-Academic honors in 2023 and has been named to the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll. On the basketball court, the guard enters the LSC Tournament averaging 10.9 points while shooting .538 from the field. Gonzales lists 11th in the LSC in three-point field goals per game (2.2).
 
Gonzales is joined on the 2024 LSC Men’s Basketball All-Academic team by LCU teammate Ty Caswell; Eastern New Mexico’s Greg Johnson; and Bennett Mohn and Gavino Ramos from St. Edward’s.
 
The LSC Men’s Basketball All-Academic team is selected by the conference sports information directors and recognizes individuals for high-level athletic and academic achievement. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests; reached sophomore athletic and academic standing; completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution; and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average over their collegiate career.
