Texas Woman's junior forward Ashley Ingram claimed Lone Star Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Year honors to headline the league’s postseason awards, it was announced Wednesday (March 6) during the annual championship banquet at Main Event in Frisco, Texas, ahead of the LSC Women's Basketball Championship, which is set to tip off Friday at Comerica Center.
Ingram, who is a three-time All-Conference First Team selection, averaged 18.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game to help lead TWU to the LSC regular-season and East Division titles. She ranks among the LSC top five in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage (.609) and free throw percentage (.818). Ingram was named LSC Freshman of the Year in 2022.
UT Permian Basin forward and graduate student Alexus Quaadman was named Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 10.5 rebounds and recording 36 blocked shots. St. Mary's forward Taylor Haggan earned Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 14 points per game. Midwestern State junior forward Zarria Carter won the Newcomer of the Year award and leads the LSC in rebounding (10.6 rpg). Texas A&M-Kingsville sophomore guard/forward Shelby Ray (11.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg) took Sixth Woman of the Year honors.
Texas Woman’s Beth Jillson and Rae Boothe of UT Permian Basin were co-winners of the Noel Johnson Coach of the Year Award. Jillson, who earned her third consecutive Coach of the Year honor, led TWU to a 20-2 record, the season and East Division titles, and top seed in the 2024 LSC Tournament. Boothe led UTPB (22-6) to its first LSC Tournament appearance and all-time best season (22) and conference (17) wins, and a No. 3 seeding.
Overall, 44 student-athletes earned recognition. The awards are voted on by the LSC’s 16 head coaches.
