The final week of the Lone Star Conference baseball regular season is here. The race for the regular season title remains tight with West Texas A&M (33-13, 32-12 LSC), Lubbock Christian (32-4, 31-13) and Angelo State (32-14, 30-14) all within two games of each other. WT and ASU will face each other in San Angelo, Texas, while LCU will host Eastern New Mexico.
UT Tyler (26-18, 26-18) and UT Permian Basin (27-19, 25-19) are right behind the WT, LCU and ASU trio looking to secure a top-4 spot and hosting rights in the first round of the LSC Championship.
Texas A&M International (22-24, 22-22) has won a league-best four straight games after its road sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville.
WT leads the league in hitting (.344), while ASU has the top pitching (4.86 ERA). ASU also owns the league’s top fielding percentage (.972). LCU has hit an LSC-high 66 home runs, which is one ahead of Cameron.
ASU’s Tripp Clark is leading the league with a .444 batting average (as well as 68 RBIs), followed by UT Tyler’s Nathan Carriere (.437) and WT’s Dylan Fesperman (.426). Cameron’s Wyatt Grant has the LSC’s home run league with 17, while UTPB’s Carson Johnson and LCU’s Carson Ogilvie are tied with a conference-high seven triples. UAFS’ Michael Brinton has a league-best 21 doubles. ASU’s Jacob Guerrero has the stolen bases lead with 23.
On the mound, UT Tyler right-hander Rawley Hector leads the league with a 3.28 ERA. LCU left-hander Ryan Markwardt lead the conference lead with eight wins. ASU righty Dax Dathe has struck out a league-high 84 batters. UTPB righty Brock Robarts has eight saves to lead the LSC.

ASU was the top pick in the
LSC preseason poll. ASU’s Guerrero and senior right-hander Braxton Pearson were named
LSC Preseason Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively.
The LSC Baseball Championship will be compiled of the top eight teams based on conference standings. The top four seeds will host opening-round, best-of-three series on May 3-5 at their home parks. The winners will advance to a double elimination tournament on May 9-11 hosted by the top remaining seed.

HITTER
Omar Cervantes, Texas A&M International, 1B, Jr., Kinesiology, Laredo, Texas (United HS)
Cervantes went 9-for-17 with two home runs, a double and seven RBIs to fuel Texas A&M International’s conference series road sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville. Cervantes, who struck out just once, also scored seven runs and walked twice. He had at least two hits in each game. One of his homers was a three-run shot in the first inning of the series finale to set the tone for the sweep.
PITCHER
Jack Granack, St. Edward’s, RHP, Gr., MBA, Spring, Texas (Legacy Prep)
Granack tossed a four-hit complete game with no earned runs to defeat nationally-ranked Angelo State and halt the Rams’ seven-game winning streak. The St. Edward’s right-hander struck out four batters over the seven-inning, 2-1 series opener. He retired the final five hitters in order.
