Schott leads LSC Softball Academic awards

 
Academic Player of the Year Sam Schott leads the nine-player 2024 Lone Star Conference Softball All-Academic Team announced by the Conference on Wednesday (May 1).
 
A junior, Schott is majoring in biochemistry with a 4.0 grade-point average and has earned recognition on the CSC Academic All-District list (2023) and the LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll. She volunteers with the non-profit Refugee International assisting in providing free and safe medical care to persons in need. An third team All-LSC pick in 2023, Schott leads UT Tyler with seven home runs while batting .373.
 
Joining Schott on the nine-member 2024 LSC Softball All-Academic Team is three-time LSC All-Academic pick Kylie Janzen from Oklahoma Christian (2022, '23, '24) and two-time honorees Tiarra Delrosario from Lubbock Christian (2023, '24) and Brittni Rufus from West Texas A&M (2023, '24). First-time award recipients Cheyenne Floyd, Angelo State; Katie Dillon, St. Edward's; Destini Trahan, UT Permian Basin; Michelle Arias, UT Tyler; and Emilee Boyer, West Texas A&M.
 
The LSC Softball All-Academic team is selected by the conference sports information directors and recognizes individuals for high-level athletic and academic achievement. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests; reached sophomore athletic and academic standing; completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution; and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average over their collegiate career.
