Winners of eight games in a row, St. Mary’s is atop the Lone Star Conference men’s basketball standings at 11-1. The Rattlers (14-4 overall) dropped their conference opener to Midwestern State back in November, but have been perfect in league play ever since.
DBU (19-3 overall) is also hot, prevailing in five consecutive games and is 11-2 in the LSC standings. The Patriots are 8-0 on the road.
MSU (14-4 overall) and Lubbock Christian (14-6) are tied at 9-3. Both squads won each of their games last week. MSU improved to 9-0 at home.
This week’s slate features eight games on Thursday and eight more on Saturday.
Eastern New Mexico is scoring a league-high 91.3 points per game, while Angelo State is only allowing 65.7 points per game.
Sul Ross State’s Ethan Yancy (44 points) has the top-scoring performance this season. UT Permian Basin teammates Dario Domingos and Freddie Word have the most rebounds in a game (16) and Texas A&M International’s Duncan Alevok has an eight-block performance. Eastern New Mexico’s Austin Abrams has game-highs in assists (11) and steals (seven). TAMIU’s Marco Foster made a league-best eight 3-pointers in a game.
West Texas A&M’s Ahamed Mohammed is averaging a league-high 17.5 points per game, followed by DBU’s Ricky Lujan (17.4), StMU’s Damani Claxton (17.3) and Yancy (17.2). More league stat leaders include: Cameron’s Jaxon Ingram (9.9 rebounds pg), CU’s Reggie Prudhomme (6.1 assists pg) and ENMU’s Jose Murillo (1.5 blocks pg). WT’s Jailyn Sledge and DBU’s Xavion Brown are averaging 2.2 steals per game. Murillo is shooting 69.1 percent (105-for-152) from the field, while Oklahoma Christian’s Marcos Foster is shooting 45.2 percent (56-for-124) from 3-point range. Western New Mexico’s Carson Kelly is shooting 90.9 percent (70-for-77) from the free-throw line.
The LSC Basketball Championship will be March 6-9 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The top eight of the 16 men’s teams based on overall conference standings (22 games) will qualify. The men’s quarterfinals will be on March 7, followed by the semifinals on March 8 and the title game on March 9.

OFFENSIVE
Cameron Kahn, DBU, G, Sr., Sports Management, Sulphur Springs, Texas
DBU senior guard Cameron Kahn became the program’s all-time leading scorer and averaged 21.5 points, seven rebounds and 2.5 assists to fuel a 2-0 week. Kahn, who wins the league’s top weekly offense award for the second time this season, scored point No. 1,920 in a 97-78 win over West Texas A&M. Kahn had a game-high 22 points against WT. On the week, Kahn shot 70.8 percent from the field. He added a steal and went 9-for-11 from the free-throw line to help the Patriots extend their winning streak to five games.
DEFENSIVE
Reggie Hill, Midwestern State, F, Sr., Applied Arts and Sciences, Melbourne, Fla.
Midwestern State senior forward Reggie Hill averaged four steals, pulled down 12 defensive rebounds and blocked two shots to lead the Mustangs to an unbeaten week against Cameron and Oklahoma Christian. In just 16 minutes against OC, Hill put together a double double (14 points, 10 rebounds) with four steals. Hill and company held their opponents to a 62-point scoring average and just 31.8 shotting from the field. Hill, who added four assists on the offensive end, helped the Mustangs extend their winning streak to three games and stay perfect (9-0) on their home court.
