Watch LSC Soccer live on FloCollege
With two weeks remaining in Lone Star Conference men’s soccer league matches, only one team remains without a conference loss: new league member UT Dallas at 6-0-1. The Comets (19 points, 10-3-2 overall) went 2-0 last week to extend their winning streak to five matches and their unbeaten streak to eight.
Lubbock Christian (6-6-3, 5-1-2 LSC) has a three-match winning streak and is in second place in the league standings with 17 points.
No. 12 Midwestern State (15) and St. Edward’s (13) have also reached double-dig points in the conference standings.
MSU has the top scoring average in the league at 1.933 goals per game, while UTD, LCU, MSU and Sul Ross State are all allowing a league-low .93 goals per game.
LSC play continues this week with one match on Monday (Oct. 27), four on Wednesday (Oct. 29) and five on Saturday (Nov. 1). The regular season concludes with six matches on Nov. 5.
MSU was voted the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the
preseason poll. SEU’s Arthur Souza and St. Mary’s teammates Luke Mulkey and Johnny Thurbin were voted
preseason players of the year.
The LSC men's soccer tournament will be comprised of the top six teams and is scheduled for Nov. 8 (quarterfinals), Nov. 12 (semifinals) and Nov. 15 (final). The quarterfinals will be held on campus of the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds; the semifinals are hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seed; and title match will be hosted by the highest remaining seed.
Due to being NCAA Division II provisional members, UTD and SRSU are not eligible for the LSC tournament but can win the LSC regular season title and postseason awards.
