Angelo State junior outside hitter Madi Parrish claimed the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Player of the Year Award to highlight the league’s postseason awards, it was announced Wednesday (Nov. 19) by league officials at the LSC Championship Banquet in San Angelo, Texas.
Parrish, who is from Saginaw, Texas, also took home the LSC Offensive Player of the Year Award. She has averaged 3.63 kills and 4.22 points per set and recorded 38 service aces. Parrish also added 258 digs and 35 blocks. Her play helped the Rambelles to a share of the LSC regular season title and the top seed in the LSC tournament.
West Texas A&M senior middle blocker Taytum Stow (125 blocks – 53 solo) was the LSC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.
Lubbock Chrsitian’s Camdyn Sears (10.45 assists per set) doubled as LSC Setter of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
St. Mary’s senior Alyssa Koehl (584 digs) was named Libero of the Year, while Texas Woman’s junior libera Alyssa Rojo (5.60 digs per set) was voted LSC Newcomer of the Year.
LCU’s Keith Giboney was voted LSC Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Chaps to a share of the conference title.
Parish, Stow, Sears and Koehl were also all named to the All-Conference First Team. Rojo was a second team selection. Sears also headlined nine players on the All-Freshman Team.
Overall, 47 student-athletes were honored by the all-conference program, which also included honorable mentions. The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches.
