West Texas A&M senior Esther Conde-Turpin was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Asociation’s National Athlete of the Week on Dec. 15.
The senior from Montpellier, France opened her season with personal records in both the 60 meters (7.66) and 60 hurdles (8.26) at the UCCS Pre Holiday Invite and Multi in Colorado Springs, Colo. She ran 8.27 in the prelims of the 60 before trimming another 0.01 seconds to win the final.
Conde-Turpin has been a force in the NCAA Division II heptathlon over the past few years. She won the NCAA title last year with the second-best total in NCAA DII history (4,447 points). It marked Conde-Turpin’s third performance among the all-time top five.
This is the second time in the past three years that Conde-Turpin has been named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. She previously earned the honor on Feb. 6, 2024.
