The 2026 Lone Star Conference men’s and women’s indoor track and field season is officially underway.
LSC athletes have already recorded 29 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (10 men and 19 women). Of those, three are the top marks in the country: Angleo State’s William Opare in the men’s 400 meters (47.07), ASU’s 4x400-meter relay team of Opare, Jahleel Armstrong, Taylor Briggs and Rami Balti (3:07.92) and DBU’s Ellie Frye in the women’s 800 meters (2:08.94).

2026 LSC Indoor Track and Field Athletes to Watch List included 18 men and 20 women.
The 2026 LSC Indoor Track and Field Championships will be held Feb. 27-28 at
Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. All nine men’s teams and 11 women’s team can participate. West Texas A&M is the defending conference champion on both the men’s and women’s side. The Buffs have won seven titles overall, while the Lady Buffs have hoisted the trophy every year since 2014.
The NCAA Division II National Championship is set for March 13-14 at Virginia Beach Sports Complex in Virginia Beach, Va.

MEN’S TRACK
William Opare, Angelo State, Fr., Marketing, Accra, Ghana
Angelo State freshman William Opare ran the fastest 400-meter time in all of NCAA Division II this season with a 47.07 and also set the meet record at the Crimson and Gold Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan. Opare’s 400 time is also the second fastest in all NCAA levels. In addition, Opare was a part of the 4x400-meter relay team (with Jahleel Armstrong, Taylor Briggs and Rami Balti) that posted the top mark in Division II this season with a 3:07.92. It was also the third fastest time in Division II history.
MEN’S FIELD
Hemon Joseph, Eastern New Mexico, Sr., Information Systems, La Tante, St. David's, Grenada
Eastern New Mexico senior Hemon Joseph posted a 7.33m (24-0.75) in the long jump to win gold at the Washburn Alumni Invite in Topeka, Kan. Joseph’s jump ranks fifth in all of NCAA Division II this season. He also ran a personal best in the 60-meters (6.93).
WOMEN’S TRACK
Ellie Frye, DBU, Sr., Marketing, Bushland, Texas
DBU senior Ellie Frye ran the top 800-meter time in all of NCAA Division II this season with a 2:08.94 at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, Mass. Frye’s personal best time took silver in the event behind only a Division I runner.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Madison Ramos, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., Education, Port Isabel, Texas
Texas A&M-Kingsville senior Madsion Ramos broke her own school record in the high jump with a 1.76m at the Crimson and Gold Invitational in Pittsburg, Kan. Ramos’ mark is the second best in all of NCAA Division II this season. She broke her old mark of 1.75 she set at last year’s national indoor meet.
