After two weeks of tournament play mixed with a handful of single games, the 16 Lone Star Conference teams turn their attention to the 2025 conference schedule. League action begins Friday and continues to Sunday (Feb. 14, 16). ... This season's LSC format is an LSC East-West Division schedule of doubleheader dates. Each team has a home/away set vs. each team within its division and a twin bill against each team in the opposite division for a 44-game LSC schedule.
Tournaments and non-conference doubleheaders kept the LSC teams busy in week two. Three teams carry undefeated records into LSC play – West Texas A&M (10-0), UT Tyler (9-0) and Texas Woman's (4-0). Four teams have just a single loss through the early season – Lubbock Christian (11-1), Angelo State (9-1), Oklahoma Christian (7-1) and Cameron (3-1).

The LSC swept the season's first
Division II Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week honors as Angelo State shortstop Laylonna Applin and UT Tyler right-hander Primrose Aholelei claimed the national player and pitcher of the week awards, respectively, following their performances at the D2 First Pitch Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 2).
Winners of the LSC East and West Divisions earn an automatic berth in the eight-team LSC Softball Tournament. Seeding is determined by the conference record vs. all teams. The single-elimination league tournament is set for May 1-3 and will be hosted by the No. 1 seeded team.
The winner of the LSC Tournament earns the LSC automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship. ... The national tournament begins with the South Central Regional May 8-10 with the Super Regionals May 15-16. The Division II national finals are slated May 22-28 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
LSC teams are off to a solid start against their South Central Region opponents in the 2025 season. Teams hold a 34-13 record against the RMAC, going 21-5 in week one and 13-8 in weekend two. ... The LSC is a combined 50-18 record against Division II out-of-region opponents over the first two weeks of the season.

HITTER
Aylene Lucero, Eastern New Mexico, OF, Gr., Physical Education, Albuquerque, N.M.
Outfielder Aylene Lucero put together a solid weekend for Eastern New Mexico at the WT Invitational, batting .667 with a 1.133 slugging percentage in the leadoff spot. The graduate student extended her season-opening hit streak to 10 games as she scattered 10 hits in 15 at-bats with four of those going for extra bases, doubling against UC Colorado Springs and Lincoln, then posting a triple in ENMU's first game against MSU Moorhead followed by a home run against the Dragons in the second game. Lucero finished with six RBI scoring nine times and stole five bases.
PITCHER
Madeline Bloom, St. Mary's, RHP, Sr., English Language & Reading, Poway, Calif.
St. Mary's senior Madeline Bloom picked up wins over a pair of RMAC teams in the South Central Region Crossover, defeating Colorado Christian (7-1) and MSU Denver (9-1, 6 inn.). Bloom allowed one earned run in the two games and the #2 and #3 preseason RMAC teams managed to hit only .130. She threw 62 pitches against CCU before turning the ball over to fellow senior Savannah Youngblood, who set the StMU career saves record, and needed only 60 pitches for a complete game win against MSU Denver. The right-hander came on in relief against CCU in the weekend closer, throwing seven pitches to retire all six batters faced in the sixth and seventh innings.
FRESHMAN
Natalee Gray, Lubbock Christian, P, Fr., Biology, Burkburnett, Texas
Freshman Natalee Gray delivered a record-tying performance in Lubbock Christian's dominant 11-2 victory over Adams State (Feb. 8), striking out 12 batters over five innings while allowing three hits, zero earned runs, and holding the Grizzlies to a .158 batting average. She was particularly dominant with runners in scoring position, holding ASU hitters to 0-for-7 in those situations.
