The Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field season is underway.
LSC athletes have recorded 46 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (26 men and 20 women).
Angelo State’s Oleg Ananev (5.60m in pole vault), West Texas A&M’s Joseph Oreva (7.86m in long jump) and Khalil Bedoui (63.74m in hammer) and Texas A&M-Kingsville’s David Guzman (17.91m in shot put) own top marks in all of NCAA Division II on the men’s side. WT’s Deborah Acheampong (23.31 in 200-meters) and TAMUK’s Jazmin Ray (12.50m in triple jump) and Devon Williams (48.15m in discus) and ASU’s Marie Schuler (60.01m in hammer) and Federica Dozio (48.38m in javelin) are tops in the country on the women’s side.

The conference is compiled of 11 men’s teams and 12 women’s squads. Angelo State, Cameron, DBU, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Christian, St. Edward’s, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Tyler, West Texas A&M and Western New Mexico have men’s and women’s teams. The 2025 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 1-3 at Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium in Portales, N.M. hosted by Eastern New Mexico. West Texas A&M has swept the men’s and women’s conference titles the last four years.
The NCAA Division II Championships are set for May 22-24 at CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl in Pueblo, Colo.

MEN’S TRACK
Solomon Odonkor, Angelo State, Sr., Kinesiology, Accra, Ghana
Angelo State senior Solomon Odonkor broke program records in both the 100-meters and 200-meters to take a pair of gold medals at the West Kittley Invitational in Abilene, Texas. He posted a 10.05 in the 100m and 20.39m in the 200m to break marks set in 1980 and 1982, respectively. Odonkor topped Division I competition in both events.
MEN’S FIELD
Oleg Ananev, Angelo State, Fr., Management, Irkutsk, Russia
Angelo State freshman Oleg Ananev posted an 18-4.5 (5.60m) in the pole vault to set a program record and win gold at the Wes Kittley Invitational in Abilene, Texas. Ananev broke an ASU record that was set in 1997. His height is also tops in NCAA Division II this season and highest in more than more than 15 years. The mark ranks 45th in the world this year.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Deborah Acheampong, West Texas A&M, So., Sport & Exercise Science, Eastern region, Ghana
West Texas A&M sophomore Deborah Acheampong won the 200-meter and 100-meter with NCAA Division II provisional marks at the West Texas Relays in Canyon, Texas. Acheampong set a school record in the 100m with a 23.24 and posted an 11.38 in the 200m – the fifth fastest in school history. Her 200m time is tops in the country and her 100m time ranks second.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Jazmin Ray, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Gr., Electrical Engineering, Tyler, Texas
Texas A&M-Kingsville graduate student Jazmin Ray posted the top triple jump mark in all of NCAA Division II to take gold at the UTSA invite in San Antonio, Texas. Ray’s provisional mark was 41’ 0.25” (12.50m). She also recorded an 18’ 1.75” (5.53m) in the long jump.
