LSC Outdoor Track and Field Release - Week 4

Lone Star Conference athletes have recorded 127 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (72 men and 55 women).

Angelo State’s Oleg Ananev (5.60m in pole vault) and Mark Burdin (7,338 points in decathlon), and West Texas A&M’s Joseph Oreva (7.86m in long jump), Isaac Botsio (10.14 in 100-meters) and Romet Vahter (7,592 in decathlon) own top marks in all of NCAA Division II on the men’s side, while WT’s Eliette Chaput (10:14.50 in 3000 Steeplechase) has the best marks in the country on the women’s side.

The conference is compiled of 11 men’s teams and 12 women’s squads. ASU, Cameron, DBU, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, Oklahoma Christian, St. Edward’s, Texas A&M-Kingsville, UT Tyler, WT and Western New Mexico have men’s and women’s teams. The 2025 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 1-3 at Al Whitehead Field at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium in Portales, N.M. hosted by ENMU. WT has swept the men’s and women’s conference titles the last four years.

The NCAA Division II Championships are set for May 22-24 at CSU Pueblo Thunderbowl in Pueblo, Colo.

(April 10-12 Meets)

MEN’S TRACK
Isaac Botsio, West Texas A&M, Jr., Sports and Exercise Science, Takoradi, Ghana
West Texas A&M junior Isaac Botsio posted the top 100-meter time in NCAA Division II with a 10.11 at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi in Canyon, Texas. It was also a top-10 time in program history. Botsio, who takes the conference’s top weekly track award for the second time this season, also anchored the Buffs’ 4x400 relay team that recorded the fourth fastest time in the nation (39.88). Botsio and the Buffs were the top-finishing Division II team in both events.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Ronald Grueso Mosquera, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Sr., Communications, Cali, Columbia
Texas A&M-Kingsville senior Ronald Grueso Mosquera won two gold medals with marks that both rank second in all of NCAA Division II at the Cactus Cup in Kingsville, Texas. Mosquera had a 190’ 10” (58.18m) in the discus, which was the second longest throw in school history. He then recorded a 60’ 0.5” (18.30m) in the shot put, which was a top-10 throw in program history.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Blessing Akintoye, West Texas A&M, So., Sports and Exercise Science, Ogun state, Nigeria
West Texas A&M sophomore Blessing Akintoye set a new school record in the 200 meters with a 23.15 at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi in Canyon, Texas. The time is the third fastest in all of NCAA Division II. Akintoye also recorded a 53.48 in the 400 meters and was part of the Lady Buffs’ 4x100 meter relay team that ran a 44.96. Those times ranked fourth and third in the country, respectively.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Jodian Stewart, Eastern New Mexico, So., Communications, Black River, Jamaica
Eastern New Mexico sophomore Jodian Stewart improved her school record in the long jump with a 20’ 6.5” (6.31m) to take gold at the Jo Meaker Classic and Multi in Canyon, Texas. Stewart’s mark is also the third best in all of NCAA Division II. Stewart also ran a 12.06 in the 100-meters and was part of the Greyhounds’ 4x100 relay team that put together an NCAA Division II provisional time of 45.90.
