The 28th edition of the Lone Star Conference Softball Tournament plays out over May 1-2-3 in Canyon, Texas, with eight teams vying for the tournament title and the LSC automatic berth in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship. Four quarterfinal games are scheduled Thursday with two semifinals on Friday and the championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Season Titles
West Texas A&M and UT Tyler each posted 40-4 records over the LSC season and finish as LSC Co-Champions. In addition, WT claimed the West Division title going 26-2 vs. division opponents. UTT won the East Division title posting a 26-2 record against its division opponents.
 
 
LSC in the Polls . . .
West Texas A&M held at No. 1 in the NFCA Coaches Poll for a third week as UT Tyler moved up to No. 3, Angelo State stays at No.7 and Oklahoma Christian stepped up to No. 16 in the April 22 ranking.  …  The LSC has ruled the NFCA poll in 2025, with a conference team ranked No. 1 in 11 of the 12 polls to date. UT Tyler listed in the top spot from the preseason through week 7 and after a one-week lapse, WT has claimed No. 1 for weeks 9-11.  
LSC in the South Central Region . . .
The second Division II softball regional rankings were released April 23 with seven LSC teams earning a spot among the Top 10. ... LSC teams carry a combined 34-13 record against RMAC/South Central Region opponents and an overall 56-20 against out-of-region Division II opponents (through April 27).

HITTER
Taryn Barney, UT Tyler, C/DP, Jr., Criminal Justice, Lewiston, Idaho
Taryn Barney put together a solid offensive week for UT Tyler, spurring the Patriots to a 6-0 week heading into the LSC Softball Tournament. The junior catcher/designated Barney hit .571 (8-for-14) over six games totaling three doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI. Barney drove in at least one run in each game with three RBI in the 8-0 game two win vs. Texas Woman's. She tallied four RBI over the doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma Christian, with three coming on a home run in the first game.
 
PITCHER
Cheyenne Floyd, Angelo State, RHP, Jr., Education, Odessa, Texas
Cheyenne Floyd dominated in her final appearances at Angelo State's Mayer Softball Field, throwing 13.1 shutout innings with 17 strikeouts and one walk allowed. Against Midwestern State, the junior right-hander threw 6.1 innings, allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. Floyd closed the regular season by handing West Texas A&M its largest defeat of the season, only allowing four hits while striking out eight in the 7-0 win. Floyd only allowed one runner into scoring position in each game, and no runners reached third base against her.
 
FRESHMAN
Izabella Valdez, St. Mary's, C, Fr., Elementary Education, San Antonio, Texas
St. Mary's catcher Izabella Valdez hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one against Texas A&M-Kingsville for the 7-6 Rattlers' win, then powered a three-run shot in the bottom of the sixth in game one against Texas A&M International to lift StMU to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory. The freshman drove in nine of St. Mary's 22 runs over the four-game weekend, posted a pair of multi-hit games, and reached base in three of the four outings.
