Next Stop: Patriots, Lady Buffs to Division II Softball Super Regionals

 
Lone Star Conference season co-champions UT Tyler and West Texas A&M meet again on Thursday and Friday (May 15-16) in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Division II Softball Championship with a trip to the national finals on the line.
 
UT Tyler (55-4), the top seed in the South Central Region and the defending national champion, hosts WT (55-6) in the best two-of-three series. Game one is scheduled Thursday at 4 p.m. CT with game two on Friday at 3 p.m. CT. The if needed game three follows at 5:30 p.m. Friday. UT Tyler won three straight games in the South Central Region Bracket-1 to extend its national tournament winning streak to 13 games (2024, 2025 seasons). The Patriots took down a pair of RMAC teams – MSU Denver (4-1) and Colorado Christian (7-1) – in their first regional games before eliminating LSC rival Oklahoma Christian in the regional final, 8-0 (5 innings). It is the fourth straight Super Regional trip for UT Tyler.
 
West Texas A&M came back from elimination in the last game of the South Central Bracket 2 to claim the region title. WT opened NCAA postseason with wins vs. Lubbock Christian (9-4) and Angelo State (2-1) but dropped a five-inning 8-0 game to ASU to force a second championship game. The Lady Buffs scored twice in the third and once in the fourth for a 3-0 shutout of ASU to punch their Super Regional ticket.
 
The eight Super Regional champions advance to Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Division II Championship Finals May 22-28. UT Tyler has one Division II title (2024) while WT has a pair of of national titles (2014, 2021).
