After two weeks of Lone Star Conference women’s soccer, six teams remain without a loss: No. 7 DBU (4-0), Texas Woman’s (4-0), UT Tyler (3-0), UT Dallas (3-0), UT Permian Basin (3-0-1) and West Texas A&M (3-0-1).
On the young season, TWU’s offense leads with a scoring average of 4.5 goals per match. The Pioneers are also tops in defense, allowing just .25 goals per match. DBU and UTPB are just behind at .50 goals per match.
Conference matches begin on Wednesday (Sept. 17).
DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the
preseason poll. St. Edward’s Annie Rocha, DBU’s Parker Coe and TWU’s Amanda Farris were voted
preseason players of the year.
The LSC women's soccer tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for Nov. 7 (first round), Nov. 10 (quarterfinals), Nov. 13 (semifinals) and Nov. 16 (final). The first round and quarterfinal matches are played at the site of the higher seed. The semifinals and final rounds are hosted by the No. 1 seed.

OFFENSIVE
Annie Rocha, St. Edward’s, F, So., Computer Science, Austin, Texas
St. Edward’s sophomore forward Annie Rocha had a hat trick in the first half of a win over North Greenville and added an assist against No. 24 UCCS. Rocha, who is the LSC’s Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, has the only hat trick in the league this season. She scored three consecutive goals (12:44, 13:36 and 25:00) to help the Hilltoppers secure their first win of the season. Against UCCS, she assisted a goal that tied the match 1-1.
DEFENSIVE
Anne Louthan, DBU, MF, Sr., Interdisciplinary Studies, Colorado Springs, Colo.
DBU senior midfielder Anne Louthan fueled a unit that allowed just one goal as the No. 7-ranked Patriots defeated No. 24 UCCS and Central Oklahoma. Louthan also had the game-winning goal in a 2-1 match with UCCS in the 86th minute. Against UCO, Louthan had an assist to help DBU stay unbeaten on the season. Her defensive play has led DBU to two shutouts over four matches this year.
GOALKEEPER
Melyna Martinez, Angelo State, GK, Sr., Management, San Antonio, Texas
Angelo State senior goalkeeper Melyna Martinez did not allow a goal over two matches to help the Rambelles to an unbeaten week on the road against CSU Pueblo and MSU Denver. Martinez played 78:23 in goal and made four saves in a 4-0 win over CSU Pueblo. It was ASU’s first victory of the season. Against MSU Denver, Martinez recorded the shutout with one save in the draw. She has not allowed a goal in her last 190:58 played.
