Midwestern State senior forward Parker Plaxco claimed Lone Star Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Year honors to highlight the league’s postseason awards, which were announced Tuesday (Nov. 3).
Plaxco, who is from Stephenville, Texas, also took home the LSC Forward of the Year Award. He led the league with 15 goals – five more than anyone else – and 30 points during the regular season. Plaxco also had a conference-best seven game-winning goals. His play helped the Mustangs extend their unbeaten streak to 29 matches and win the LSC championship.
MSU had three more individual awards. Junior Ethan Krchnak was named LSC Defensive Player of the Year, junior Jake Morris was voted LSC Goalkeeper of the Year and senior Alan Rivera earned the title of LSC Midfielder of the Year.
St. Mary’s goalkeeper Nichita Misac was named LSC Freshman of the Year.
Oklahoma Christian sophomore goalkeeper Dante Caffaro was voted LSC Newcomer of the Year. OC also had the LSC Coaching Staff of the Year (head coach Neil Hilton, assistant coaches Artur Gomez and Paulo Lopez, graduate assistant Javier Ceballos and team manager Gabe Angle). They guided the Eagles to an undefeated conference record (6-0-4) for the first time in program history.
Plaxco, Krchnak, Morris and Rivera were also all named to the All-Conference First Team, while Caffaro was a Second Team selection and Misac was a Third Team choice. Misac headlined 13 players on the All-Freshman Team.
Overall, 47 student-athletes were honored by the all-conference program. The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches.
