The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field season is officially underway, and Lone Star Conference athletes have recorded 39 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (20 men and 19 women).
Of those results, five are the top marks in the country: West Texas A&M’s Isaac Botsio in the men’s 100-meters (10.09); Angelo State men’s 4x400 meter relay team of Francis Patanpatan, Karl Patanpatan, Adrian Nethersole and Taylor Brigs (3:10.44); WT’s Deborah Acheampong in the women’s 100-meters (11.33); UT Tyler’s Aerin Thompson in the women’s 400-meters (53.87); and Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Yosiris Cordoba in the discus (52.77m).
The
2026 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Athletes to Watch List included 24 men and 26 women.
The 2026 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 7-9 at
West Texas A&M Track and Field Complex in Canyon, Texas (hosted by West Texas A&M). All 12 men’s teams and 13 women’s team can participate. West Texas A&M is the five-time defending conference champion on both the men’s and women’s side.
The NCAA Division II National Championship is set for March 21-23 at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan.

MEN’S TRACK
Francis Patanpatan, Angelo State, Fr., Business, Hawley, Texas
Angelo State freshman Francis Patanpatan was part of three NCAA Division II provisional times at the Wes Kittley Invitational in Abilene, Texas. Patanpatan ran a 21.00 in the 200-meters, which is the top mark in the LSC and fourth best time in the entire country. He was a part of the 4x100 meter relay team that has the best time (39.41) in the nation and the 4x400 meter relay team that has the second-best time (3:10.44) in all the land. He took silver in the 200 and gold in both relays. Patanpatan also posted a 47.61 in the 400-meters, which was good for sixth place at the event.
MEN’S FIELD
Gage Upton, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Fr., Criminal Justice, Maypearl, Texas
Texas A&M-Kingsville freshman Gage Upton cleared 5.25m (17’ 2.75”) in the pole vault to win gold at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, Texas. The NCAA Division II provisional clearance ranks fourth in the entire country and is also the fourth best mark in program history.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Deborah Acheampong, West Texas A&M, Jr., Sports and Exercise Science, Eastern region, Ghana
West Texas A&M junior Deborah Acheampong won the 100-meter with a 11.30 at the West Texas Relays in Canyon, Texas. The mark was the top time in all of NCAA Division II this season and second fastest time in program history. Acheampong also won the 200-meters with a provisional time of 23.98 and was part of the runner-up 4x100-meter relay team that posted a 46.59.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Yosiris Cordoba, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Jr., Education, Turbo, Colombia
Texas A&M-Kingsville junior Yosiris Cordoba had a discus throw of 52.77m (173’ 1”) to win the Blue and Gold Battle in Kingsville, Texas. The mark is tops in all of NCAA Division II this season and also broke a program record. In addition, Cordoba had a 12.89m (42’ 3.5”) shot put throw at the event.
