Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field athletes have recorded 129 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (59 men and 70 women).
Of those results, 13 are the top marks in the country: West Texas A&M’s James Dadzie in the men’s 100-meters (10.05); Angelo State’s William Opare in the 200-meters (20.48) and 400-meters (45.98); ASU’s men’s 4x400 meter relay team of Opare, Jahleel Armstrong, Rami Balti and Francis Patanpatan (3:06.24); WT’s Fran Bonifacic in the men’s decathlon (7,526 points); WT’s Blessing Akintoye in the women’s 200-meters (23.02); UT Tyler’s Aerin Thompson in the women’s 400-mters (52.26); WT’s Abigail Abugire in the women’s 800-meters (2:04.38); WT’s Kalkidan Vincendeau in the women’s 5,000-meters (16:11.65); WT’s Emiliia Tangara in the women’s 400 hurdles (56:41); UT Tyler women’s 4x400 meter relay team of Thomspon, Hannah Lakin, Kamaria Carr and Jasmine Haywood (3:35.31); Texas A&M-Kingsville’s Yosiris Cordoba in the women’s discus (53.57m) and WT’s Esther Conde-Turpin in the women’s heptathlon (6,161).
Conde-Turpin’s heptathlon total is an all-time Division II record.
She set the mark on April 1 at the 98th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
Two WT athletes have been named U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week this season. Isaac Botsio
earned the honor on March 30, while Conde-Turpin
got the nod on April 6.
The
2026 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Athletes to Watch List included 24 men and 26 women.
The 2026 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 7-9 at
West Texas A&M Track and Field Complex in Canyon, Texas (hosted by West Texas A&M). All 12 men’s teams and 13 women’s team can participate. West Texas A&M is the five-time defending conference champion on both the men’s and women’s side.
The NCAA Division II National Championship is set for May 21-23 at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan.

MEN’S TRACK
James Dadzie, West Texas A&M, Sr., Kinesiology, Akim Oda, Eastern, Ghana
West Texas A&M senior James Dadzie won gold in the 200-meter (20.48), took third in the 100-meter (10.21) and was part of the runner-up 4x100-mter relay team (39.74) at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi in Canyon, Texas. The 200 time ranks third in all of NCAA Division II this season, while the relay mark is fourth. Dadzie already has the top 100 time in the country (10.05).
MEN’S FIELD
Oyeyoni Oyewale-Johnson, West Texas A&M, Jr., Graphic Design, Acra, Ghana
West Texas A&M junior Oyeyoni Oyewale-Johnson claimed victory in the triple jump at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi in Canyon, Texas. Oyewale-Johnson had a mark of 15.40 that is tied for sixth place in all of NCAA Division II this season and tops in the LSC.
WOMEN’S TRACK
Blessing Akintoye, West Texas A&M, Jr., Health Science, Ogun State, Nigeria
West Texas A&M junior Blessing Akintoye posted the 15th fastest 200-meter time in NCAA Division II history with a 22.95 at the at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi in Canyon, Texas. It was also a program record. Akintoye won the event, as well as the 400-meters (53.11). Her 400 time is fifth in the country this season. Akintoye was also a part of the 4x100-mter relay team that posted the 26th best time in the nation this season.
WOMEN’S FIELD
Yosiris Cordoba, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Jr., Education, Turbo, Colombia
Texas A&M-Kingsville junior Yosiris Cordoba had the top discus throw in all of NCAA Division II this season and also broke a school record with a 53.57m (175’ 9”) at the Kingsville Cactus Cup in Kingsville, Texas. Cordoba, who wins the league’s top weekly field award for the second time this season, won first place in the event.
