Lone Star Conference outdoor track and field athletes have recorded 194 NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks (102 men and 92 women).

 
Of those results, 11 are the top marks in the country: West Texas A&M’s James Dadzie in the men’s 100-meters (10.05); Angelo State’s William Opare in the 200-meters (20.48) and 400-meters (45.98); ASU’s men’s 4x400 meter relay team of Opare, Jahleel Armstrong, Rami Balti and Francis Patanpatan (3:06.24); WT’s Fran Bonifacic in the men’s decathlon (7,526 points); WT’s Abigail Abugire in the women’s 800-meters (2:04.38); WT’s Kalkidan Vincendeau in the women’s 5,000-meters (16:11.65); WT’s Emiliia Tangara in the women’s 400 hurdles (56:41); WT’s women’s 4x400 meter relay team of Abugire, Sandra Appiah, Asana Hamidu and Blessing Akintoye (3:39.36); and WT’s Esther Conde-Turpin in the women’s high jump (1.79m) and heptathlon (6,161).
 
Conde-Turpin’s heptathlon total is an all-time Division II record. She set the mark on April 1 at the 98th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
 
WT’s Isaac Botsio was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week on March 30.
 
The 2026 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Athletes to Watch List included 24 men and 26 women.
 
The 2026 LSC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 7-9 at West Texas A&M Track and Field Complex in Canyon, Texas (hosted by West Texas A&M). All 12 men’s teams and 13 women’s team can participate. West Texas A&M is the five-time defending conference champion on both the men’s and women’s side.
 
The NCAA Division II National Championship is set for May 21-23 at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan.

MEN’S TRACK
William Opare, Angelo State, Fr., Marketing, Accra, Ghana
Angelo State freshman William Opare put his name atop two events in all of NCAA Division II – making it a total of three currently – with two gold medal performances at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Opare recorded a 20.48 in the 200-meter dash, beating a field that included Division I and professional athletes. He was also a part of the 4x400-meter relay that posted a 3:06.24 with a 44.60 split. The time is nearly two seconds better than anyone in Division II. Opare also has the country’s top 400-meter dash time (45.98), which he set on March 26.
 
MEN’S FIELD
Fran Bonifacic, West Texas A&M, Jr., Marketing, Punat, Croatia
West Texas A&M junior Fran Bonifacic know owns the top decathlon total in all of NCAA Division II this season after his 7,526 at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Bonifacic’s total is the third best in program history. He finished first in the discus (44.20m) and shot put (14.07m) and third in the javelin (57.32m) and pole vault (4.70m).
 
WOMEN’S TRACK
Emiliia Tangara, West Texas A&M, Fr., Sports Psychology, Voronezh, Russia
West Texas A&M freshman Emiliia Tangara has the top 400-meter hurdles time in all of NCAA Division II this season and the top time in program history after a 56.41 at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Tangara had a 57.76 in the prelims. She finished in fourth place behind only Division I opponents. Tangara was the only non-Division 1 athlete in the top 9.
 
WOMEN’S FIELD
Esther Conde-Turpin, West Texas A&M, Sr., Relational Dynamics & Engagement, Reunion Island, France
West Texas A&M senior Esther Conde-Turpin set a new NCAA Division II all-time record in the heptathlon with 6,161 points to win the gold medal on April 1 at the 98th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas. Conde-Turpin broke an 11-year-old record of 6,141 set by New Mexico Highland’s Salcia Slack at the Jim Click Shootout and Multis in Tucson, Ariz. Conde-Turpin also broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles (13.34) and posted the second-best high jump (1.79m) and shot put (13.85m) marks in program history. Her high jump mark is also the best in Division II this year. Conde-Turpin’s historic heptathlon total included first-place showings high jump, javelin (43.86m) and shot put (13.85m). She was runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles, 800-meters (2:15.66) and long jump (5.78m). She was the only non-Division I athlete in the top 14.
