Lone Star Conference women’s soccer is officially underway. All 15 teams have played at least one match.
 
No. 5 UT Dallas, Midwestern State and Texas Woman’s are all 2-0, while DBU, Oklahoma Christian and UT Permian Basin are 1-0. Angelo State (1-0-1), Eastern New Mexico (1-0-1), St. Mary’s (1-0-1) and St. Edward’s (0-0-1) are also unbeaten.
 
DBU is the favorite to win the LSC title this season, according the preseason poll. DBU’s McKenna Vela and Kenzi Tufts, and UT Dallas’ Melyna Martinez were voted preseason players of the year.
 
The LSC women's soccer tournament will feature the top eight teams and is set for Oct. 30 (first round), Nov. 2 (quarterfinals), Nov. 5 (semifinals) and Nov. 8 (final). The first round and quarterfinal matches are played at the site of the higher seed. The semifinals and final rounds are hosted by the No. 1 seed.
 
All LSC women’s soccer teams are eligible to win the regular season title and advance to the LSC and NCAA Division II postseason tournaments.

OFFENSIVE
Cassandra Ramirez, UT Permian Basin, F, Sr., Biology, Odessa, Texas
UT Permian Basin senior forward Cassandra Ramirez recorded a hat trick on just four shots in only 26 minutes to help the Falcons to a season-opening win over Southwest (N.M). Ramirez had the only hat trick in the LSC over opening weekend and became the fourth player in program history to have a three-goal game – first since 2022.
 
DEFENSIVE
Bella Pillow, Midwestern State, D, Jr., Radiology, Wichita Falls, Texas
Midwestern State junior defender Bella Pillow led the way for two shutouts and added both game-winning goals. In the season opener on the road against Oklahoma Baptist, Pillow headed in a cross in the 5th minute. She followed with a goal in the 10th minute against Ouachita Baptist. Over the two matches, Pillow and company allowed just six shots – one on goal.
 
GOALKEEPER
Melyna Martinez, UT Dallas, GK, Gr., Business Administration, San Antonio, Texas
UT Dallas graduate student posted a pair of clean sheets to begin the season and helped the Comets to a 2-0 start in Hawaii. Martinez, who is the LSC Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, had three saves against Hawaii Pacific in the opener and two more against Chaminade. Both matches had 3-0 finals.
