West Texas A&M was defeated 5-2 by Cal State Dominguez Hills
in the quarterfinals of the 2009 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer
Championship.
The Lady Buffs (15-3-4) saw their memorable season end just
short of the national semifinals.
The Toros (16-8-2) scored first just 1:37 into the game, but
WTAMU's Morgan Kviz tied the game up at the 5:51 mark with a shot
over the goalkeeper from 12 yards out.
CSUDH took a 2-1 lead into intermission with a loose ball goal
in the 29th minute before recording another goal five minutes into
the second half.
The Lady Buffs cut the deficit to 3-2 on a Lindsay McHorse
header goal assisted by Melanie Shannon in the 52nd minute, but it
wasn't enough. CSUDH added two more goals to advance to
Tampa, Fla., and a semifinal game against West Florida.
