Women’s Golf: Tarleton finishes fifth at NCAA Championships

Tarleton State completed its run at the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships at Persimmons Ridge Golf Course in Louisville, Ky., with a 322 for a fifth-place finish with a 1,291 total.

The TexAnns started off in ninth place after the first round and continued to climb the standings throughout the event.  Tarleton was eighth after the second round and sixth after the third round.

Individually, Jacqueline Lau led the way for the TexAnns, shooting a 318, which tied for 16th.  Sharon Lau also broke the top-25 with a 321, which tied her for 23rd.  Jessica Pickwick shot a 326 (T-33rd), while Katy Ward finished with a 327 (38th) and Sarah Fulfer shot a 353 (61st).

Tarleton made its sixth straight trip to the championships and recorded the sixth top-five finish.

Nova Southeastern took first place overall at 1,234, with three individuals in the top four golfers, to earn their fourth straight national title.  Florida Southern (1,254), Grand Canyon (1,273) and Barry (1,284) came in just ahead of Tarleton.
