The amazing run of the No. 25 Midwestern State Mustangs came to an end on Monday night as the No. 3 Colorado Mesa Mavericks edged MSU 69-65 at Bronson Arena in the NCAA II South Central Region Championship Game.
 
Colorado Mesa was up 64-63 with 1:21 to play when the Mavericks made a key defensive stop as CMU’s Kelsey Sigl blocked a Dianna Jones layup that turned into a fast-break layup by the Mavs Sharaya Selsor that put MSU behind the eight-ball.
 
MSU missed on two other 3-point attempts in the final 1:04, the second when Jones was blocked by Effo Baker with eight seconds to play.
 
MSU got the ball back and closed it again to one at 66-65 on a pair of Andrea Carter free throws, but in fouling to get the ball back, MSU allowed the Mavericks to stretch the lead. (Click here for the complete release courtesy of MSU Athletic Communications)
