Rabb throws for 326 yards, 2 TDs to lead @MWSUFootball past WNMU, 35-24

Midwestern State junior quarterback Layton Rabb threw for a career-high 326 yards and two touchdowns to lead the No. 12 Mustangs to a 35-24 win over Western New Mexico Saturday night in Memorial Stadium.

The game was the first for the Mustangs since the tragic loss of sophomore defensive back Robert Grays on Sept. 16 against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

The two teams had a ceremonial play in his honor at the start of the game as the Mustangs went with just 10 players on defense.

Rabb was 20 of 31 passing with touchdown passes of 54 and 26 yards, while also scoring on a 1-yard run of his own...Complete Release


Texans win fourth straight on Woerner's milestone night

Big time players step up in big time situations and Tarleton quarterback Zed Woerner delivered when the game mattered most.

The Texans led 25-17 with five minutes left in the game on the road against UT Permian Basin when Woerner connected with Jeff Thomas for a 76-yard touchdown pass to make it a two-score lead. Not only did the touchdown seal the win for the Texans, but it was the 58thcareer touchdown pass for Woerner, passing Scott Grantham for the Tarleton all-time record. Tarleton went on to win its fourth consecutive game with a 32-17 victory over UT Permian Basin.

Woerner finished the game 11-of-17 passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns along with 71 rushing yards in the record-breaking night. With the win, Tarleton improves to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Lone Star Conference...Complete Release


Defense Propels ENMU to Wagon Wheel Victory

Brad Hardin picked off a Josh Houghtaling pass at the West Texas A&M 32-yard line and lateraled the ball to Johnny Smith for a 26-yard return. The play set up a six-yard touchdown run by senior running back Kamal Cass to pull Eastern New Mexico even at 7-all late in the third quarter. The Greyhounds never looked back on the way to a 28-14 win over WT in Lone Star Conference action at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.

After the contest, the Greyhounds sprinted through the end zone to claim the Wagon Wheel trophy for the second straight year...Complete Release



Rams Bounce Back with 40-14 Win Against Javelinas

The Angelo State football team overcame a 14-7 first quarter deficit Saturday night at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field by scoring 33 unanswered points to top Texas A&M-Kingsville 40-14.

The Rams (3-2, 1-2 LSC) had 506 yards of offense on the night, including 386 passing yards from quarterback Charlie Rotherham, which is the 10th most in a single game in ASU history.

Down 14-10 coming out of halftime, Justin Jackson picked off TAMUK (1-4, 0-3 LSC) to setup a Flanigan field goal for ASU's first score of the second half. The 37 yard field goal was the longest of his career to trim the deficit to 14-13...Complete Release
