Tarleton State won its second Lone Star Conference Baseball Tournament Championship with a 15-7 triumph over top seed and host West Texas A&M at Wilder Park in Canyon, Texas.
The Texans earned the LSC's automatic berth in the NCAA South Central Regional next week at a site to be determined. The NCAA Division II Selection Show is Sunday, May 13 at 9 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
TSU improved to 35-15 on the year, while WT fell to 39-12.
The Texan offense exploded for 10 runs in the second inning to take control of the game. Jared McCarver led the eight-hit second frame with a pair of home runs, as he started the inning with a solo shot before adding a two-run homer.
TSU’s Jake Hasbrouck hit three home runs in the game to tie the LSC record held by several players. Nathan Hickey earned the win in relief allowing just three hits with one walk in three innings.
