Lubbock Christian and Texas A&M-Commerce remained undefeated following week three of the season. The Lady Chaps prevailed in a rematch of last year’s South Central Regional final against Angelo State to open conference play 1-0. A&M-C, West Texas A&M, UT Permian Basin, Texas Woman’s and Oklahoma Christian also began conference play undefeated.
LSC women’s basketball teams are 53-34 overall this season and 21-10 against Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams, the other league in the NCAA South Central Region.

Ashton Duncan, Lubbock Christian, JR, Social Work and Criminal Justice, G, Lubbock, Texas, Trinity Christian HS
Duncan helped LCU open Lone Star Conference play 1-0, as her 24-point performance led LCU to a 75-64 road win at Angelo State. Duncan, making her 54th career appearance, made her first career start and opened the game 5-of-5 from the field, which was part of an 8-of-9 shooting sequence to start the game for the junior, who finished with a career-high in points. She connected on four three-pointers and also contributed four rebounds and two steals in the game.
DEFENSIVE
Alexis Bryant, Texas A&M-Commerce, SR, Sports and Recreation Management, F, Pflugerville, Texas, Pflugerville HS
Bryant was a disruptive force on both sides of the ball for the Lions as they opened conference play with two wins. Against St. Mary's, Bryant had a pair of blocks and had 11 rebounds, recording a double-double to go with her 16 points. To go with her two blocks, Bryant also altered several shot attempts, helping to hold the Rattlers to under 33 percent shooting in the game. She then had a career-high four blocks and a pair of steals against St. Edward's, leading the Lions to another 20-plus point win. Bryant also pulled in eight rebounds and had 14 points, helping cement the paint for A&M-Commerce on both ends. Bryant and the Lions held SEU to under 32 percent from the field. The Lions are allowing fewer than 50 points per game so far this season, ranking in the top 10 in Division II in scoring defense.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Ma'K'La Woods, Texas Woman’s, helped the Pioneers to two road victories last week including an overtime win at Tarleton to start LSC play. She shot .545 from the field including a hot .667 against the Texans, and scored 6 of TWU's 12 points and had 2 steals in the OT to seal the 63-55 win. At Northeastern State, Woods and teammate Carissa Moody each had 12 points to lead the Pioneers to a 60-47 victory in non-conference play.
Mar'Shalia Lollie, UAFS, had an explosive weekend against both Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International. Lollie went off for 23 points and 11 rebounds in the Lady Lions' loss against TAMIU but also helped propel the UAFS offense against Texas A&M-Kingsville with 14 points and 8 rebounds as the Lady Lions bounced back against Javelinas. She was shooting a 48 field goal percentage overall during the weekend.
Rory Carter, UT Permian Basin, was efficient in a pair of Falcon wins this past week to push their winning streak to four games. The freshman lifted the Falcon offense in their 80-64 victory over Sul Ross with 16 points and six rebounds and was 4-for-6 from long range. She was once again efficient on Saturday shooting 4-of-7 while knocking down her only three-pointer attempt on the afternoon as the Falcons opened LSC play with win. The Las Vegas native is second on the team in scoring on the season and one of two freshman averaging double-digit points.
De'Anira Moore, Angelo State, led the Rambelles in points against the D2 defending national champions, Lubbock Christian, with 21 points. Moore registered three rebounds total, two on offense and one on defense, and one assist. Moore played 35 minutes for the Belles against the Lady Chaps. Despite a 75-64 to the reigning champs, the Belles came within five points halfway into the fourth quarter before LCU pulled ahead late in the quarter.
Delaney Nix, West Texas A&M, led the WT offensive attack on Saturday night as the No. 21 Lady Buffs topped the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico in the Lone Star Conference opener at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. The sophomore from Tahlequah, Oklahoma went 5-of-10 from the floor including 5-of-9 from behind the arc to lead the Lady Buffs with 15 points to go along with four rebounds and five assists in the 61-47 victory over the Hounds.
Chania Wright, Texas A&M-Commerce, was a potent offensive weapon for the Lions in their two wins to open the LSC season. Against St. Mary's, she was on fire from behind the arc, scoring five three-pointers and putting up a season-high 19 points to go along with her four assists. She had another three against St. Edward's as the Lions handed the Hilltoppers their first loss of the season, while scoring seven points with an assist.
Marissa Escamilla, Tarleton State, averaged 11.5 points and 7 rebounds in two contests this week. The sophomore from Burnet registered 9 points, three rebounds, and two assists in Tarleton’s 31-point win over Arlington Baptist. Escamilla shot 4-6 from the floor in the win. In their conference opener versus Texas Woman’s, Escamilla recorded a career high 14 points and 11 rebounds, as well as a block and a steal. She shot 6-9 from the floor.
Maddison Collyer, Oklahoma Christian, had 41 points, 21 assists, 16 rebounds and six steals as OC went 2-1 on the week, falling to Newman before opening league play with solid wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International. She led OC with 16 points in a 56-44 loss to Newman, then flirted with a triple-double in a 65-52 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville with 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. She posted her third career double-double in an 80-68 win over Texas A&M International, finishing with 13 points and 10 assists to go with four rebounds. Her pinpoint passing was a big reason the Eagles shot a season-best 54.2 percent from the field against the Dustdevils.
Tiana Parker, West Texas A&M, led the way on the defensive end of the floor for the No. 21 Lady Buffs on Saturday night in Canyon as they topped the rival Greyhounds of Eastern New Mexico during the Lone Star Conference opener at the First United Bank Center. The Chehalis, Washington product went 2-of-5 from the floor and 2-of-2 from the fire throw line for six points to go along with eight rebounds (two offensive, six defensive), two steals and five blocks in the win over the Hounds.
Carissa Moddy, Texas Woman’s, helped lead TWU to two road victories last week including an overtime win at Tarleton to start LSC play. The league’s leading rebounder pulled down 15 of her 18 rebounds on defense, swiped 7 steals and added a block. Moody was key to keeping the opponents' scoring average at 51 point per game. TWU is third in the LSC in defense allowing only 52.75 ppg this season. Moody also contributed on offense going 10-18 (.556) from the floor.
Holly Hemmeline, UT Permian Basin, helped lead a shutdown Falcon defense en route to a pair of wins this past week. The freshman stuffed the stat sheet on Saturday as the Falcon defense suffocated Western New Mexico for the win in their Lone Star Conference opener. She played a team-high 35 minutes, holding the Mustangs to just 21 second half points on 5-of-22 shooting (22.7 percent). She led the team with seven rebounds and four steals while also adding in 14 points along with five assists on the offensive end. The guard was crucial as the Falcons held the Mustangs to just 3-of-17 (17.6 percent) from three-point range for the contest.
Maddi Chitsey, Lubbock Christian, contributed on the defensive side of a 75-64 win at Angelo State in the Lady Chaparrals Lone Star Conference opener. She led LCU with seven rebounds and also led in blocks (3), as LCU held the defending LSC regular season co-champions to a 33.9% shooting mark from the field. Chitsey also helped force the LSC turnover leaders into 21 turnovers.
Mackenzie Hailey, Tarleton State, averaged 14.5 points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals in two contests this week. The senior from Burleson registered 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal in Tarleton’s 31-point win over Arlington Baptist. Hailey and the Texans held the Patriots to 37.3 percentage shooting and forced 16 turnovers. In their conference opener versus Texas Woman’s, Hailey recorded 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists. Hailey’s season-high five steals helped forced 25 Pioneer turnovers.
