Lone Star Conference games continue this week with four league contests and one non-conference game.
Four LSC teams - Angelo State, Midwestern State, Tarleton State, and Texas A&M-Commerce – remain undefeated.
LSC football teams are 18-8 overall this season. The squads are 5-1 combined versus the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.

LSC FOOTBALL ON ESPN3
A pair of Lone Star Conference games will be featured as part of the 2019 Division II football showcase schedule on ESPN3.
The Midwestern State at Texas A&M-Commerce match-up on October 12 in Commerce, Texas, and the Texas A&M-Commerce at West Texas A&M contest on November 2 in Canyon, Texas, were selected to be streamed on ESPN3, and available on the ESPN App.
ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multiscreen sports network, a destination that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually. It is accessible on computers via ESPN.com/watch and on smartphones, tablets and streaming devices through the ESPN app. The network currently is available nationwide at no additional cost to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated service provider. It also is available at no cost to U.S. college students and U.S.-based military personnel via computers, smartphones and tablets connected to on-campus educational and on-base military broadband and Wi-Fi networks.
LSC FOOTBALL ON NEXSTAR
The Lone Star Conference and Nexstar Media Group, Inc. announced a new partnership to bring college football fans exclusive coverage of multiple matchups featuring NCAA Division II teams via live television broadcast and streaming online video.
Four LSC games - Western New Mexico at Texas A&M-Commerce (Oct. 26), Midwestern State at Tarleton State (Nov. 2), West Texas A&M at Texas A&M-Kingsville (Nov. 9), and Texas A&M-Commerce at Angelo State (Nov. 16) - will air via live television broadcast and/or streaming online video exclusively on network-affiliated stations and/or websites owned by Nexstar and select broadcast partners including: KTAB (Abilene), KASY (Albuquerque), KCPN (Amarillo), KBVO (Austin), KVEO (Brownsville), KTSM (El Paso), KLBK (Lubbock), KMID (Midland/Odessa), KSAN (San Angelo), KTPN (Tyler), KWKT (Waco) and KJBO (Wichita Falls).
LSC TO HOST 2019 DIVISION II FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Following a tremendous experience in 2018, the NCAA Division II Football Committee has chosen McKinney Independent School District Stadium in McKinney, Texas, as the host site of the 2019-21 Division II football national championship games.
The Lone Star Conference in conjunction with McKinney ISD hosted the 2018 championship game.
McKinney ISD Stadium and Community Event Center, a 12,000-seat facility built primarily for football, will host the Division II Football Championship games on Dec. 21, 2019, Dec. 19, 2020 and Dec. 18, 2021.

OFFENSIVE
Miklo Smalls, Texas A&M-Commerce, SO, Sports & Recreation Management, QB, Plano, Texas, Plano East HS
Smalls was ultra-efficient in leading the No. 12 Lions to a key LSC win over Eastern New Mexico, completing 13-of-15 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. His 86.7 completion percentage is the top performance in the conference this season, as is his four TD performance. He averaged 18.7 yards per completion and had touchdown passes of 9, 73, 26, and 18 yards. He had 268 yards of total offense of the Lions' 333 yards on only 42 plays - TAMUC averaged 7.9 yards per play on offense in the game. His passing efficiency rating of 297.41 is the top single-game performance in the nation this season, and his 86.7 completion percentage is fifth-best in the nation this year.

Jefferson led the Texans defense for the second straight week as the senior boasted 12 tackles, including 2.0 for a loss. Jefferson’s 12 tackles led the team in a 58-28 rout of West Texas A&M, most of which came in a 51-0 first-half shutout. With Jefferson leading the way, WT compiled only 117 yards of total offense, including just 12 yards of offense at the half and only one positive yard after one quarter.

Ramsey spurred the Lions' first half scoring performance with a 55-yard punt return for a touchdown - his fifth career return TD. He is the only player in the LSC to return a punt for a score through three weeks of play this year. He averaged 35 yards per punt return in the ENMU game and ranks second in the LSC in both punt and kickoff return average.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Quinton Childs, Midwestern State, ran for a career-high 174 yards to help No. 16 Midwestern State to a 14-8 Lone Star Conference opening win over UT Permian Basin Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The senior from El Paso accounted for six rushes of 12-or-more yards with a long of 23 as he accounted for 174 of MSU Texas' 183 rushing yards against the Falcons. Childs ranks second in the league averaging 107 rushing yards per game.
Keke Chism, Angelo State, was a big impact on the offense this past weekend to help the Rams to a 3-0 start on the season and 1-0 in conference play. Chism caught for a career-best 194 yards to help the Rams to a conference opener victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville. In the third quarter, Chism scored his first touchdown to increase the Rams lead 30-0. His second touchdown came in the fourth on a career-long best 74-yard reception to insure the ASU victory.
Ben Holmes, Tarleton State, orchestrated a 51-point first half as the senior led the #4 Texans to a rout of West Texas A&M. Holmes played the first half and one drive in the second half to total 185 passing yards and three throwing touchdowns with a long pass of 48 yards. Holmes dished out a touchdown to three different receivers and completed passes to six different targets.
Alex Shillow, Texas A&M-Commerce, had a career-high 11 tackles for the Lions in the win over Eastern New Mexico, including seven solo stops against the Greyhounds' potent rushing attack. The Lions held the Greyhounds to 157 fewer yards rushing than their previous season low. Shillow also recovered a fumble on a kickoff in the second quarter. The Lion offense turned that fumble into a touchdown only three plays later.
Keegan Gray, UT Permian Basin, was all over the field Saturday night in the Falcons 14-8 loss at Midwestern State. Gray led the Falcons with 3.5 tackles-for-loss in the game, including a one-yard loss for a safety in the third quarter. Gray ended the night with 10 tackles, 0.5 sacks, a pass break up and a QB hurry. He ranks 12th in the conference with 21 tackles this season and is fifth on the season with 4.5 total tackles-for-loss in 2019.
Charles Countee, Eastern New Mexico, led the Greyhounds with nine total tackles and recovered a fumble in the Hound's 45-27 loss at #12 Texas A&M-Commerce. Countee was a key member of a Hound defense that limited the Lions to 325 total yards with six solo tackles and a fumble recovery on the first play of the second half.
Melik Owens, Midwestern State, continued his blistering start to the 2019 season spearheading Midwestern State's defensive efforts in a 14-8 win over UT Permian Basin Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. The sophomore from Houston finished with eight tackles including two tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries as the Mustangs held UTPB out of the end zone and limited them to 271 yards of total offense. Owens ranks fourth in NCAA Division II averaging 2.5 tackles for loss per game and remains the LSC's sack leader with 1.33 per contest.
Hunter Kyle, Angelo State, had a strong impact on defense, holding TAMUK to 296 yards. He registered five tackles, three of them solo, and had two tackles for loss for 4 yards. The Wichita Falls native, notched one breakup as well.
Hayden Decossas, UT Permian Basin, connected on a pair of field goals for UT Permian Basin against #16 Midwestern State. He hit from 27 yards out in the second quarter, and his season-long 42 yard strike in the final minute of the third quarter pulled the Falcons within a possession of the Mustangs.
Tobias Harris, West Texas A&M, has another impressive performance for the Buffs in the return game on Saturday against Tarleton. He finished the game with 120 total yards on three returns including a career-long 85-yard return in the third quarter that set up a Buff touchdown. Through three games, Harris leads the nation in combined kick return yards (447) and punt return yards (191).
J.R. Fullen, Tarleton State, kicked off 11 times and had six touchbacks while averaging 31.0 yards per punt in his two punts in a 58-28 win over West Texas A&M.
