Four Lone Star Conference women’s basketball teams had perfect weekends, including Texas A&M-Commerce and West Texas A&M who each went 2-0 with a pair of conference wins. UT Permian Basin and Texas A&M International each picked up non-conference wins during 1-0 weeks.

LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The LSC Women’s Basketball Championship is set for March 2-5-6, 2021, with quarterfinal games on campus sites on Tuesday, March 2. The four winning teams will advance to the final site at the highest remaining seed to play semifinal games on Friday, March 5, followed by the championship game on Saturday, March 6. The top eight teams will qualify for the tournament based on the recently announced
basketball point rating system. The divisional champions will automatically qualify for the tournament and be seeded according to the point rating system. All teams must play a minimum of 11 games to qualify for the conference tournament.

OFFENSIVE
Dyani Robinson, Texas A&M-Commerce, SO, Criminal Justice, G, Cypress, Texas, Langham Creek HS
Dyani Robinson led the Lions to a 2-0 record to start the season with a pair of wins at St. Edward's, where she powered to the LSC lead in scoring average. In the season opener, Robinson scored 19 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. She topped that performance in the second game of the weekend leading the team with 23 points on 8-of-15 shooting in a 73-62 win over SEU. Her 21.0 points per game lead the league by 1.5 points and she ranks sixth in the LSC in shooting at 50.0 percent on 30 shots. She also ranks sixth in the league in steals at 3.5 per game and 16th in assists at 2.5 per game. Robinson was the 2019-20 LSC Freshman of the Year and was named to the all-conference third team.
DEFENSIVE
Juliana Louis, Texas A&M-Commerce, SR, General Business, F, Long Beach, Calif., St. Anthony's HS
Juliana Louis was dominant defensively for the Lions, who went 2-0 to start the season with a pair of wins at St. Edward's. Her 8 defensive rebounds led the team over the weekend while she averaged 7.5 boards per game. Louis also blocked 3 shots and picked up 5 steals as the Lions held SEU to just 37.3 percent shooting from the floor. She ranks 6th in the conference with 1.5 blocks per game and 10th in the league at 2.5 steals per game. As a team, the Lions lead the league in rebounding, are second in steals, and third in blocks.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Lexy Hightower, West Texas A&M, began her senior campaign on a high note this past weekend as the LSC Preseason Player of the Year averaged 18.0 points per game in a pair of road victories at UAFS. The Amarillo product went 13-of-26 (50 percent) from the floor including 2-of-3 (66.7 percent) from deep and 8-of-9 (88.9 percent) from the free throw line to go along with 11 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Hightower registered nine points in the season opener followed by a 27-point showing on Sunday afternoon as the Lady Buffs picked up a pair of LSC crossover wins. Hightower moved into fourth place on WT's all-time made three-pointers list as the senior now has connected on 199 career long balls, she sits just 10 threes short of Holly Isaacs (209) in third place.
Christina Mason, St. Edward's, was a catalyst offensively for the Hilltoppers both in scoring and assists. Mason averaged 19.0 points over the weekend while shooting .455 from the field. She also added eight assists per game.
Abby Spurgin, West Texas A&M, continued to prove why she is one of the top post players in Division II Basketball this past weekend as the senior led the Lady Buffs to a pair of conference road victories at UAFS to open the 2020-21 season. The Fredericksburg native went 6-of-15 from the floor shooting 40 percent and a perfect 8-of-8 from the charity stripe to average 10.0 points per game to go along with 11 total rebounds. (four offensive and nine defensive), three assists, four blocks and two steals in the pair of wins.
Josselin Geer, Texas A&M International, was a defensive force in the Dustdevils’ non-conference win over Texas Woman's. The Winter Haven, Fla. native logged eight rebounds, two steals and a block in the victory and forced the Pioneers to shoot just 39.6 percent from the floor in the 60-55 win.
Jazmine Jackson, St. Edward's, posted a double-double on the first night of play and had a game-high nine rebounds in game two of a weekend doubleheader against Texas A&M-Commerce. Jackson averaged just 20.5 minutes per game and was highly effective on the court helping hold the Lions to 41.9 percent from the floor.
