Kelley-Lusk headlines 2021 Women's Soccer All-Academic Team

West Texas A&M’s Hannah Kelley-Lusk was named the 2021 Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer Academic Player of the Year as the conference released the women’s soccer academic awards on Thursday evening.

Kelley-Lusk led a group of 11 standout student-athletes honored for their work in the classroom and on the pitch. The All-Academic team is chosen by the league’s sports information directors, who select players on the basis of both athletic and academic achievement. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average based on the 4.0 system for their entire collegiate career.

The WT graduate student was joined on the team by fellow Lady Buff Ashley Silvestre, Angelo State’s Kira Miller, DBU’s Melissa Jones and Delaney Schmidt, Lubbock Christian’s Shadiana Haney and Madison Mayben, Texas A&M-Commerce’s Lauren Shaw and Kara Blasingame, Texas Woman’s Keely Chapman and UT Tyler’s Sarah Flannelly.

Hannah Kelley-Lusk, a forward from Farmington, N.M., claimed the league’s top academic honor with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average as a communication disorders graduate student at WT. Kelley-Lusk is one of the top forwards in that nation this season leading all of Division II in goals per game with 1.53 and in points per game with 3.65. She is the first player from WT to earn Academic Player of the Year honors since 2006.
