Eight Lone Star Conference women’s basketball teams began the season undefeated, including No. 10 Texas A&M-Commerce, Cameron, Eastern New Mexico, Midwestern State, Texas A&M International, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Woman’s and Western New Mexico.
LSC women’s basketball teams are 21-11 overall and 17-9 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other conference in the South Central Region.

Hedge came out on fire to start the 2021-22 season for the Aggies, averaging 27.5 points in a 2-0 weekend against a pair of RMAC schools. The fourth-year player began things by putting up 26 points in a 30-point win over Adams State on Friday night, going 8-15 from the field and 5-7 from three. She followed that up with a 29-point effort against UCCS, making 10 field goals with three from long range. Hedge also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists and helped out on the defensive end with 2.5 steals per game over the two-game span.

Allie Schulte, Lubbock Christian, SR, Humanities, G, Nazareth, Texas, Nazareth HS
Schulte helped LCU to a 4-1 start, as LCU went 3-0 at the DII CCA Tip-Off Classic at the Trailhead in Billings, Mont., and 1-1 at the RMAC/LSC Tip-Off Challenge in Lakewood, Colo, as she averaged 12.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.6 steals a game. The senior also led a defensive unit that held opponents to just 54 points per contest on 37.5 percent shooting from the floor in the opening five games of the season. The senior claimed All-Tournament MVP honors at the DII CCA tournament, which included a season-opening 19 points against Montevallo. At Colorado Christian, Schulte had a season-high five steals.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Dyani Robinson, Texas A&M-Commerce, led the team in scoring with an average of 23.5 points in two games in Colorado this past weekend on a field goal percentage of .412. She had 27 points in Friday's win over CSU-Pueblo. Robinson also had three assists and seven rebounds. Defensively, the sophomore held the Lions' opponents to a scoring average of 71 in the two games. She had four steals and plus/minus of +12 while guarding Colorado Christian's leading scorer in the final stretch of Saturday's 83-74 win.
Zamorye Roberts, West Texas A&M, led the team in scoring with an average of 23.5 points in two games in Colorado this past weekend on a field goal percentage of .412. She had 27 points in Friday’s win over CSU-Pueblo. Robinson also had three assists and seven rebounds.
Frances King, Midwestern State, played a pivotal role in Midwestern State's two-win weekend in the Ashbrook Classic. The sophomore averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, shooting 50 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the line. King collected 16 points and four assists against UC-Colorado Springs to lead the Mustangs. She added three steals and went 8-10 from the line against the Mountain Lions. King grabbed 15 points and four steals in the team's close game versus Adams State. The guard notched five defensive rebounds and tallied two more blocks in 37 minutes. King went 5-10 for field goals while knocking down all four free throws.
Ashton Duncan, Lubbock Christian, helped LCU to a 4-1 start, as LCU went 3-0 at the DII CCA Tip-Off Classic at the Trailhead in Billings, Montana and 1-1 at the RMAC/LSC Tip-Off Challenge in Lakewood, Colo, as she averaged 14.8 points a game and had double-figure scoring marks in all five games. She posted 22 points in a road game at Montana State Billings and 20 points againstCSU-Pueblo for her highs. She connected for 16 three-pointers (3.2 per game), which helped move her into fifth on LCU's career mark for three-point field goals.
Payton Brown, Angelo State, was the Belles' main offensive outlet. Against MSU Denver, she scored 18 points. Against Western Colorado, she scored 10 points. Brown was the only Belle to reach double-digits in both games.
Mia Rivers, Texas A&M-Kingsville, led the Javelinas in their season-opening win with 14 points on a 6-for-11 clip from the field, coupled with four rebounds and five assists. She poured in a pair of buckets during the Javelinas' unprecedented 20-0 run in the third quarter to pick up her first double-digit effort of the 2021-22 campaign.
Katie King, Cameron, was a nuisance on both ends of the floor for Cameron in their opening weekend sweep of a pair of RMAC opponents. The second-year guard played lock-down defense against Adams State, recording four steals and adding nine points and six assists in the 30-point win. The next day, King totaled three steals while dropping 17 points on 11 shots with six rebounds and two more assists against UCCS. The feisty guard helped her team average 27.5 turnovers forced and 15.5 steals while holding the opposition to under 20 percent shooting from the perimeter.
Alivia Lewis, West Texas A&M, has been dominant in the paint for the Lady Buffs during the first five games of the 2021-22 campaign. The Los Lunas, New Mexico native has gone 14-of-44 (31.8%) from the field, including 25-of-30 (83.3%) from the charity stripe to average 10.8 points per contest to go along with 51 rebounds (12 offensive, 39 defensive), two assists, five steals and 12 blocks. She was named to the D2CCA Tipoff Classic All-Tournament Team.
