Three Lone Star Conference men’s basketball teams were unbeaten last week as No. 14 Lubbock Christian and No. 22 Texas A&M-Kingsville both picked up series sweeps, and Angelo State earned a non-conference win over No. 17 St. Edward’s in their lone game of the week. No. 11 DBU and UT Permian Basin each picked up a win in their weekend set.

LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The LSC Men’s Basketball Championship is set for March 2-5-6, 2021, with quarterfinal games on campus sites on Tuesday, March 2. The four winning teams will advance to the final site at the highest remaining seed to play semifinal games on Friday, March 5, followed by the championship game on Saturday, March 6. The top eight teams will qualify for the tournament based on the recently announced
basketball point rating system. The divisional champions will automatically qualify for the tournament and be seeded according to the point rating system. All teams must play a minimum of 11 games to qualify for the conference tournament.

OFFENSIVE
Jordan Horn, UT Permian Basin, SR, Psychology, G, Minneapolis, Minn., Tartan HS
Jordan Horn was instrumental in the Falcons upset of No. 11 DBU, which marked UTPB’s second straight win over a team ranked 11th in the nation. The senior caught fire scoring 15 of the Falcons’ final 17 points in regulation to force overtime. In the extra period, Horn hit the game-winning three with 53 seconds remaining to cap off a 28-point effort on 10-of-21 shooting from the floor including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc. Horn followed up with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting to close out the weekend. Overall, he averaged 22.5 points per game and handed out six assists during a 1-1 series split.

Will Chayer was one of the key cogs in a Javelina defense that held Cameron to 28.6 percent shooting and a 54.5 scoring average during a weekend in which TAMUK picked up a pair of wins over the Aggies. In a 78-46 victory on Friday, the Hogs stifled their guests to the tune of a season-low 21 percent clip from the floor and Chayer blocked two shots while grabbing seven rebounds. The next day, the junior from Corpus set a career-high with 21 points to go with nine boards, two more rejections and a steal while Cameron was limited to 36 percent shooting in a 77-63 Javelina win. For the week, Chayer led his team in rebounding and blocked shots and shot 75 percent from the field while averaging 11.5 points per game.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Parker Hicks, Lubbock Christian, fell one rebound short of a double-double, twice. posting 24 points and nine rebounds in Wednesday's win over Midwestern State followed by 19 points and nine rebounds in a one-point overtime win over the Mustangs on Saturday. He shot an efficient 48.6 percent from the field, including 46.7 percent from behind the arc in the two wins.
Chandler Jacobs, DBU, averaged 22.0 points per game in the Patriots' series split at UT Permian Basin. After scoring 24 points in an overtime loss on Friday, Jacobs poured in a team-high 20 points in a 91-74 win on Saturday. For the week, the Patriots' senior guard shot 57 percent from the field, connecting on 12-21 shots, including 5-9 from three-point range. Jacobs also drained 15-18 shots from the free-throw line.
Paul Williams, Angelo State, led the Rams to victory in their one game of the week, defeating No. 17 St. Edward's 68-65. Williams tallied a game-high in points and has scored 15-plus points in six games this season. The senior also dished five assists in the win.
Creighton Avery, Texas A&M-Kingsville, scored in double figures in twice while helping lead the Javelinas to consecutive wins that stretched their win streak to nine and put the Hogs at 11-1 in LSC play for the first time ever. On Friday night, TAMUK's junior point guard led the squad with 13 points, four assists and two steals in a 78-46 win over Cameron. One day later, he added 10 more points and another four assists while the Hogs cruised, 77-63. Avery finished the week with an average of 11.5 points per game and team-highs in assists, with eight, and steals, with three.
Jalen White, DBU, averaged 9.0 defensive rebounds per game in the Patriots' split at UT Permian Basin. In Saturday's 91-74 win over the Falcons, White pulled down 10 rebounds, including nine on the defensive end. White also led an effort on the defensive end that held UTPB to 46 percent shooting from the field in the win.
