Egor Shestakov had an impressive opening to his collegiate career posting a 3-1 in UTT’s opening week in a pair of matches against Harding and Division I foe SMU before dropping a singles and doubles match to fourth-ranked Baylor. Shestakov posted a pair of singles victories from the No. 3 spot defeating Harding’s Luis Tirado (6-1, 3-6, 6-4) and SMU’s John Zisette (7-5, 4-6, 1-0(4)). Shestakov also picked up a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles with partner Moritz Mayer against SMU. The freshman also competed at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles in losses to Baylor.

Leony Deutschmann, UT Tyler, FR, Health Sciences, Vero Beach, Fla., Bernau, Germany, Paulus-Praetorius-Gymnasium
Leony Deutschmann won both of her matches in the Patriots' season-opening 5-2 win over Harding. In her No. 3 singles win, Deutschmann earned a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over HU’s Hana Folse. The freshman also earned a win at No. 1 doubles with partner Chloe Chawner 6-4.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Grant McKenzie, DBU, posted a 3-0 record in line 1 singles and a 4-0 mark in doubles play with teammate Josh Williams in the Patriots' opening weekend to the season. McKenzie teamed with Williams to go 3-0 in flight 2 doubles and also notched a win at the line 3 position. McKenzie's efforts helped lead DBU to their first 4-0 start in a spring season since 2018.
DBU's Taylor Leslie led the Lady Patriots to a 4-0 start to the spring after posting a perfect 4-0 record in singles play and 3-0 in doubles action against Schreiner, Howard Payne, Hardin-Simmons and McMurry. On Friday in Kerrville, Texas, Leslie went 2-0 in line 1 singles, winning her sets by commanding scores of 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, and 6-0. On Saturday, Leslie posted a 2-0 mark at the line 2 position, winning 6-3, 6-2, 6-0, and 6-0. Leslie teamed with Kate Daugherty to win a pair of flight 1 doubles matches and also paired with Devon Austin-Canning to win a doubles match at the line 2 position.
