Midwestern State graduate student
Selin Sepken was named the Lone Star Conference Women’s Tennis Singles Player of the Year and the Lubbock Christian duo of
AnaMaria Zoric and
Andrea De Bernardo were named the league’s Doubles Team of the Year on Wednesday (April 29) at the LSC Tennis Championships reception.
Sepken, who is from Istanbul, Turkey, is 17-2 overall and went 9-1 in league play – all at No. 1 singles – and has been nationally ranked inside the top 10 all season. She also earned the title of LSC Newcomer of the Year. In addition, Sepken landed on the First Team in singles and Second Team in doubles with
Emilia Gyorgy.
Zoric and De Bernardo are 18-2 overall and went a perfect 10-0 in league play at No. 1 doubles. Zoric, who is from Zubrovnik, Croatia, and De Bernardo, who is from Caracas, Venezuela, are nationally-ranked inside the top 5.
Cameron’s
Jenna Goessel was voted LSC Senior of the Year, while Gyorgy was named LSC Freshman of the Year.
UT Tyler’s
Yona Bancarel was voted LSC Sportsmanship Player of the Year and headlined the 11-player Sportsmanship Team, which exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship, character and ethical conduct while displaying the true spirit of competition and college tennis.
UT Tyler’s
Chris Bizot was named LSC Coach of the Year after guiding the Patriots to their first LSC regular season title.
The awards are determined by a vote of the league’s 11 head coaches.
