LSC Football Weekly Release - Week 8

Angelo State, Midwestern State, West Texas A&M, Western New Mexico, and Western Oregon each posted Lone Star Conference victories last week.  ASU is the lone unbeaten team at 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the LSC.
 
      This week’s schedule includes five LSC games.
 
      LSC football teams are 41-36 overall this season.  The squads are 7-1 combined versus the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, which are also in Super Regional Four.

LSC TO HOST 2022 DIVISION II FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
The NCAA Division II Football Committee selected McKinney Independent School District Stadium in McKinney, Texas, as the host site of the 2022-25 Division II football national championship games.
 
      The 2022 title game is set for 12 p.m. CT on Saturday, Dec. 17 and will be televised by ESPNU.
 
      McKinney ISD Stadium and Community Event Center, a 12,000-seat facility built primarily for football, will host the championship contests on December 17, 2022; December 16, 2023; December 21, 2024; and December 20, 2025. 
 
      The Lone Star Conference in conjunction with McKinney ISD hosted the 2018, 2019, and 2021 championship games.
 
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Nate Omayebu III, Angelo State, JR, Health Science, RB, Sherman, Texas, Sherman HS
Omayebu III tallied a game-high of 124 rushing yards as the No. 2 ranked Rams defeated No. 15 Texas A&M-Kingsville 34-7 to remain as the only undefeated team in the LSC. Omayebu averaged 5.4 yards a carry while scoring one touchdown and leads the LSC in total rushing yards this season with 830.
 
DEFENSIVE
Daron Allman, Angelo State, JR, Criminal Justice, LB, Killeen, Texas, Shoemaker HS
Allman helped the Rams hold No. 15 Texas A&M-Kingsville to zero points offensively and only 145 total yards as ASU defeated the Javelinas 34-7. Allman finished with eight tackles in the game while adding a sack and a forced fumble. The Rams now hold the fourth-ranked defense in all of Division II, holding opponents to an average of 220.8 yards per game.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
Ritse Vaes, Midwestern State, SO, Criminal Justice, K, Wichita Falls, Texas, Hirschi HS
Vaes connected on a 42-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining to lift MIdwestern State to a 24-23 win over UT Permian Basin Saturday at Astound Broadband Stadium. The sophomore from Wichita Falls has connected on 8-of-9 field goal attempts this season and is a perfect 27-of-27 on point-after attempts. For his career, Vaes has connected on 19-of-21 field goals, while the 42-yard distance matches a career long.
