West Texas A&M, St. Mary's and Midwestern State booked places in the 2022 Lone Star Conference Women's Soccer Championship semifinals after picking up wins in Tuesday's quarterfinal matches.

WT was the only top seed to advance from the quarterfinals, scoring an early 14th-minute goal en route to a 2-1 win over St. Edward's. The Lady Buffs got goals from Ashley Silvestre and Nicole Gray as they advanced to the semifinals for a third straight season.

Sixth-seeded StMU rallied after conceding an early goal to fly past Lubbock Christian 3-1. The Lady Chaps took just two minutes and 20 seconds to grab the lead at home, thanks to a Celia Duarte strike.

LCU held onto its lead until the Rattlers' Juni Ejere squared the match at 1-1 in the 22nd minute. Three minutes into the second half Sydney Varela found the back of the net with what proved to be the game-winner. Fifth-year senior Megan Copeland provided the insurance nine minutes later to give StMU an unassailable lead.

MSU captured the final spot up for grabs in the semifinals by toppling No. 2 Angelo State in a 2-2 draw that saw the Mustangs advance 3-2 on penalties.

MSU senior Olivia Okoye's late goal in the 88th minute extended the match, forcing overtime that saw the Mustangs hang on for the 20-minute extra periods. After forcing the shootout, sophomore keeper Lexi Jackson came up huge between the sticks, stopping back-to-back penalties from Cassidy Hill and Katie Detmer to close the door on the Rambelles who had been seeking a third consecutive tournament title.

The women's soccer championship resumes Friday, November 4, with semifinal matches at Patriot Soccer Field on the campus of host DBU. The Patriots will face StMU in the opening match at 5 p.m., followed by WT and MSU's fixture at 7:30 p.m.
