LSC Men's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 4

Two Lone Star Conference teams - UT Tyler and Western New Mexico - remain unbeaten in non-conference play.
 
      LSC action begins this week with each team playing a double round-robin schedule within their eight-team division. Additionally, teams will play eight crossover contests against teams from the opposite division for a total of 22 conference games.
 
      The LSC Men’s Basketball Championship will feature an eight-team field in 2023 with seeding based on the 22 conference games. The divisional winners will receive the top two seeds in the tournament. The championships are set to take place March 2-3-4-5, 2023, at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
 
      LSC men’s basketball teams are 56-26 overall and 17-17 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other league in the South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Payton Brown, UAFS, R-FR, Organizational Leadership, Guard, Waldron, AR, Waldron HS
Brown scored a career-high 39 points in a 92-67 win over Ouachita Baptist by shooting 13-of-19 from the floor and 6-for-11 from beyond the arc. It was the second 30-point game of the season for Brown, who also scored a team-best 16 points in a 70-65 win over Harding as the Lions went 2-0 at the Thanksgiving Classic. Brown currently leads the LSC in scoring at 21.8 points per game.
 
DEFENSIVE
Moun'Tae Edmundson, Oklahoma Christian, JR, Sports Management, Guard, Oklahoma City, Okla., Centennial HS
Edmundson played a large role in OC's two wins at the Thanksgiving Classic hosted by UAFS. The Eagles opened the weekend with a 69-58 win against Ouachita Baptist, and Edmundson paced the Eagles with 15 points, four assists, and a steal. In the weekend finale, he led a dominant effort to top Harding 79-56 with 17 points, four steals and two assists. The Eagles held Harding to 37.3% shooting in the game.  For the week, OC held opponents to 57 points and 39.7% from the field.
