Five Lone Star Conference teams were unbeaten last week, including No. 7 Texas A&M-Commerce, Angelo State, Texas Woman’s, UAFS and West Texas A&M. The Lady Buffs were 2-0 with a home win over No. 13 Lubbock Christian, as they moved into a tie for first place in the league standings at 9-2. TWU also moved to 9-2 with their two wins, while TAMUC sits in third a half-game back at 8-2.
LSC women's basketball teams are 195-180 overall and 22-13 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other conference in the South Central Region.

2022 LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The LSC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships are set for March 1-3-4-5-6, 2022, with first round games on-campus on Tuesday, March 1. The final eight teams will advance to the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, for the quarterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds March 3-6. The top 12 men’s and women’s teams will qualify and be seeded based on the league standings following a single-round robin conference schedule (16 games).

Wright averaged 20 points in the two road wins for the Lions this past week, hitting over 50-percent from the floor. She had 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting at Cameron on Tuesday and collected 18 points on Saturday at UT Tyler. The senior shot 41.7-percent (5-of-12) from beyond the arc and averaged three rebounds and 2.5 assists in the two games. The Lions currently have the longest winning in the Lone Star Conference and Wright is averaging 10.6 points per game this season.

Stephens was impactful for the Rambelles as they continued their hot form at home, defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International to extend their home winning streak to nine games. Against the Javelinas, Stephens grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, adding in three steals as the Rambelles forced the Javelinas into 24 turnovers, their most turnovers in a conference game this season. Against the Dustdevils, she also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and a game-high five steals as the Dustdevils committed 22 turnovers on the game.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Brooklin Bain, Oklahoma Christian, averaged 22.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in three games, including consecutive road wins at St. Mary's on Thursday and St. Edward's on Saturday that ended OC's 19-game losing streak. In the first half of the 70-61 win at St. Mary's, she made her first four 3-point attempts and had 23 points and 10 rebounds by halftime before finishing with 28 points and 18 rebounds, both career highs. She poured in a team-high 18 points in the 79-60 win at St. Edward's, a game in which OC steadily pulled away from the Hilltoppers. On Monday, Bain also had 20 points and 11 rebounds as OC dropped an 86-76 decision at Eastern New Mexico in a makeup game. Bain now has 12 double-doubles this season.
Sawyer Lloyd, Angelo State, was the Rambelles' most important player this past week as ASU redeemed a pair of losses from earlier this season against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International. Against the Javelinas, Lloyd scored 18 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including a pair of made three-pointers. She assisted six times and recorded five steals defensively as the Rambelles claimed a 72-58 victory. Against Texas A&M International, Lloyd dropped a career-high 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting, grabbing eight rebounds, a pair of steals and blocking a pair of Dustdevils shots en route to an 83-56 win. The Wall native is fifth in the LSC this season with a 1.5 assists-to-turnover ratio and is ninth in the conference with 2.1 steals per game.
Scout Huffman, Texas Woman’s, got her first two starts this past week, as the Pioneers swept the week. Against Midwestern State, Huffman scored a career-high 21, leading the Pioneers to a 20-point win over Midwestern State. Then, against Western New Mexico, Huffman poured in 19 points to seal the win. On the week, she went 14-16 from the free throw line and 52 percent from the field.
Iyanna McCurdy, Eastern New Mexico, averaged 20.0 ppg and 10.0 rpg during the week for Eastern New Mexico. McCurdy began the week with a career-high 28 points (10-19 FG, 8-8 FT) against Oklahoma Christian University in the Hounds 86-76 win over the Lady Eagles on Monday, Feb. 7. The graduate student also pulled down 12 rebounds during the game for their seventh double-double of the season. McCurdy followed up with 24 points against Cameron University and nine rebounds in Greyhounds 73-72 defeat. The Philadelphia, Pa. native finished 10-19 from the field and 4-6 at the foul line.
Emily Swiercz, Texas A&M International, had the hot hand for the Dustdevils despite the 0-2 weekend on the offensive side, especially on Thursday in the 70-64 defeat to UT Permian Basin. Swiercz was lights out from the field, scoring 28 points off the bench on 9-for-15 shooting, including 7-for-12 from three to tie the TAMIU record for three-pointers in a single game. She also added two assists and four steals. She followed that with a more balanced stat line in Saturday's loss to Angelo State, scoring five points alongside two rebounds, three assists, one block and a steal.
Georgia Ohiaeri, Texas A&M-Kingsville, paced the Javelinas in points last week, setting a new career-high in points scored, reaching 16 in a Thursday night road contest at Angelo State, before breaking said record again Saturday, logging 17 against UT Permian Basin. Additionally, Ohiaeri was incredibly efficient from the floor, shooting 60 percent across the pair of games while averaging 5.5 rebounds. Ohiaeri also played a vital role in a 13-point comeback victory on Saturday, recording eight fourth-quarter points to overcome the Falcons 71-69.
Ogechi Nwodo, UT Permian Basin, helped the Falcons get a pair of wins by averaging 14.7 points and nine rebounds in three games played. She scored 18 points and added eight rebounds on the road against St. Mary's. On Thursday, she was close to a triple-double as she gathered 15 points, collected seven steals, and added nine rebounds against Texas A&M International. She did get a double-double on Saturday as she scored 11 points and pulled down 10 boards in the Falcons game against Texas A&M - Kingsville. She was 57.1 percent from the field as she blocked five shots and stole the ball eight times.
Zamorye Roberts, West Texas A&M, continued to lead the Lady Buffs offensively this past weekend as WT claimed home wins over #13 Lubbock Christian and Eastern New Mexico to run their win streak to four games. The Portales product went 6-of-17 (35.3%) from the floor, including 5-of-8 (62.5%) from behind the arc and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the stripe to average 12.0 points per game to go along with 12 rebounds (three offensive, nine defensive), eight assists and three steals. Roberts led the way on Thursday night against the #13 Lady Chaps as she went 4-of-10 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from behind the arc and 5-of-6 from the stripe for a game-high 17 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Laynee Burr, Lubbock Christian, had a pair of double-figure offensive performances on the road this week for the Lady Chaps, as she averaged 14.5 points per game. She opened the week 5-of-10 from the field and with 13 points at West Texas A&M and then followed with 16 points and two steals at Cameron. Along with 14.5 points, Burr also averaged 4.5 rebounds on the week. She was part of a perimeter defense that held Cameron, the nation's leading team in three-point shooting, to two three-pointers.
Laila Lawrence, Texas A&M-Commerce, made her presence felt defensively this past week, holding both Lion opponents to at least 10 points below their scoring averages. She had 12 points, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 at Cameron, and eight rebounds and two assists in just 12 minutes. On Saturday at UT Tyler, she had 15 points, 10 rebounds, a block, and three steals as the Lions held the Patriots to shoot 38 percent from the field.
Keslyn King, Texas Woman’s, ignited the Pioneers on defense this week by shutting down the top scorers for Midwestern State and Western New Mexico -- holding both teams to just 33.8% from the field. She also averaged 13 points on the week.
Juliana Robertson, Lubbock Christian, had a balanced week in a pair of road performances, averaging 14.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Following a performance of eight rebounds and a block at West Texas A&M, Juliana had her second double-double of the season at Cameron, as she posted a career-high 23 points along with 11 rebounds. She was 7-of-10 inside the arc and 9-of-10 from the line for her 23 points. LCU had an 18-0 advantage in paint scoring at the half in Cameron and they finished the game with a 15-0 scoring advantage in second-chance scoring, with Robertson playing a factor in both numbers. Robertson also had three blocks at Cameron and was on a defense that held the nation's top three-point shooting team to two three-point field goals. She was +35 in plus/minus against CU.
Hannah Reynolds, Midwestern State, averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds to help Midwestern State to a Lone Star Conference split with Texas Woman's and Western New Mexico last week. The 6-4 erupted for 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds while blocking four shots and matched a season-high with two steals in a loss to Texas Woman's Tuesday night. Reynolds delivered her 12th double-figure game of the season with 14 points and snagged eight defensive rebounds to help the Mustangs to a 70-57 win over Western New Mexico on Thursday. Reynolds is MSU's all-time leader and is the LSC career active leader with 205 blocked shots which is ninth in all of NCAA Division II.
Eva Langton, Texas A&M International, had two all-around games for the Dustdevils despite the 0-2 weekend. On Thursday against UT Permian Basin, Langton finished the night with nine points (3-for-5 3PT), a team high seven rebounds (5 OREB, 2 DREB), four assists and three steals. She followed that performance against Angelo State on Saturday with eight points, four rebounds, a team high six assists, one block and a steal. This season, Langton is now averaging 9.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.4 steals.
