The tournament bracket for the 2022 Lone Star Conference Women’s Basketball Championship is set following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday evening.
The championships will be held March 1-4-5-6, with first-round games played at on-campus sites and the final eight teams advancing to the Comerica Center for the last three rounds of the tournament. The women's quarterfinals will take place Friday, March 4, followed by the semifinals on Saturday, March 5, and the championship game on Sunday, March 6.
West Texas A&M claimed its 18th LSC Championship in women’s basketball in one of the tightest title races in league history. The Lady Buffs finished the year 13-3 in conference to earn the No. 1 seed in the tournament, marking the first time since 2019 that WT will enter as the top team in the bracket.
Texas Woman's received the No. 2 seed after completing the regular season with a record of 12-3 and by virtue of its head-to-head win over Texas A&M-Commerce, who is the tournament's third seed. Angelo State secured the No. 4 seed after a 12-4 mark in the conference this season. The top four seeds will receive a bye to the quarterfinals next week.
Defending tournament champion Lubbock Christian is the fifth seed in 2021-22 and will host No. 12 UAFS in the first round. Cameron's win over Texas A&M-Kingsville on the final day of the regular season put the Aggies into the No. 6 spot, pitting them against No. 11 Eastern New Mexico. UT Tyler claimed its first berth to the LSC championship as the No. 7 seed. The Patriots will face No. 10 Midwestern State to open the tournament. TAMUK will be the No. 8 seed in next week's tournament as the Javelinas are set to face No. 9 Texas A&M International.
Tickets to the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship are available as single-session passes. Prices are $15 for adults and $12 for students. Each single-session ticket includes two tournament games and is redeemable for the specified session only. Tickets can be purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office or online through Ticketmaster (
www.ticketmaster.com) now through the end of the tournament. Tickets purchased on Ticketmaster are subject to additional fees and taxes. No additional fees will be applied to tickets purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office.
All 11 women’s basketball championship games will be broadcast exclusively on the LSC Digital Network at
www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com or the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase an LSC Basketball Championship Day Pass for $10 that will provide access to all 2022 basketball tournament games broadcast that day and archived games from earlier rounds.
The winner of the tournament will be named the Lone Star Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament Champions and earn the league’s automatic qualification to the 2022 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball South Central Regional held March 11-12-14 at a site to be determined. The winner of the South Central Region will advance to the Elite Eight to be held March 21-22-24 in Birmingham, Ala.
