The tournament field for the 2022 Lone Star Conference Men’s Basketball Championship is set following the conclusion of the regular season on Saturday night.
The championships will be held March 1-3-5-6, with first-round games played at on-campus sites and the final eight teams advancing to the Comerica Center for the last three rounds of the tournament. The men’s quarterfinals will take place Thursday, March 3, followed by the semifinals on Saturday, March 5, and the championship game on Sunday, March 6.
Lubbock Christian is the top seed in the tournament for the second consecutive year after the Chaps claimed the men’s basketball championship earlier this week. LCU finished the regular season 12-2 in the LSC this season and won their first 20 games of the season, including an 8-0 start to league play.
Defending tournament champion West Texas A&M is the No. 2 seed with an 11-5 LSC record. DBU claimed the tournament's third seed, while St. Mary's is the No. 4 seed by virtue of its head-to-head win over Texas A&M-Commerce. The top four seeds will receive a bye to the quarterfinals next week.
TAMUC is the is the fifth seed and will host No. 12 Texas A&M-Kingsville in the first round. The No. 6 seed Midwestern State hosts No. 11 UT Tyler, who is making their first tournament appearance. Angelo State is the seventh seed and will face UT Permian Basin in the opening round. UAFS claimed the No. 8 seed and will host No. 9 St. Edward's on Tuesday.
Tickets to the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship are available as single-session passes. Prices are $15 for adults and $12 for students. Each single-session ticket includes two tournament games and is redeemable for the specified session only. Tickets can be purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office or online through Ticketmaster (
www.ticketmaster.com) now through the end of the tournament. Tickets purchased on Ticketmaster are subject to additional fees and taxes. No additional fees will be applied to tickets purchased at the Comerica Center Box Office.
All 11 men’s basketball championship games will be broadcast exclusively on the LSC Digital Network at
www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com or the LSC Digital Network OTT app. Fans will be able to purchase an LSC Basketball Championship Day Pass for $10 that will provide access to all 2022 basketball tournament games broadcast that day and archived games from earlier rounds.
The winner of the tournament will be named the Lone Star Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament Champions and earn the league’s automatic qualification to the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball South Central Regional held March 12-13-15 at a site to be determined. The winner of the South Central Region will advance to the Elite Eight to be held March 22-23-25 in Evansville, Ind.
