LSC Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 15

West Texas A&M captured its 18th Lone Star Conference title in women’s basketball as the Lady Buffs closed the regular season 13-3 in league play. Four teams closed out the final weekend before the 2022 LSC Basketball Championship undefeated, including No. 16 Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, St. Edward’s and Texas Woman’s.
 
    LSC women's basketball teams are 231-116 overall and 22-13 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other conference in the South Central Region.

2022 LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The LSC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships are set for March 1-3-4-5-6, 2022, with the opening round on-campus on Tuesday, March 1. The final eight teams will advance to the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas, for the quarterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds March 3-6.  The top 12 men’s and women’s teams will qualify and be seeded based on the league standings following a single-round robin conference schedule (16 games).

OFFENSIVE
Ashley Ingram, Texas Woman's, FR, Kinesiology, F, Bridgeport, Texas, Bridgeport HS
Ingram led the Pioneers in scoring during a 2-0 week that included an upset win over fourth-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce. Against the Lions, the freshman recorded her fourth career double-double, scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 (.533) shooting from the floor and pulling down 10 rebounds while adding a pair of assists, two blocks and a steal. On Saturday against UAFS, Ingram closed out her regular season with 16 points and eight rebounds. The Bridgeport native also recorded a season-high-tying four assists and added another two blocks and a steal to her resume. In conference play, Ingram is third in the league in scoring at 17.4 points per game and leads the league in field goal percentage at 54.0-percent.

DEFENSIVE
Brielle Woods, Texas Woman's, JR, General Studies, G, DeSoto, Texas, DeSoto HS
Woods led a Pioneer defense that held fourth-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce to its second-lowest shooting percentage of the season as TWU pulled off the upset over the Lions to kick off a 2-0 week. The DeSoto native picked up three steals in the game and pulled down five boards from her guard position while helping hold TAMUC to just 32.8-percent from the floor and 25.0-percent from beyond the arc. Woods grabbed a total of six steals disrupting passing lanes all week. The junior also scored 16 points against UAFS to lead the Pioneers to their final regular-season win.

SELECTED NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
    Hannah Reynolds, Midwestern State, averaged 22.5 points and 9.5 rebounds to lead Midwestern State to wins over UAFS and Oklahoma Christian last week at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The 6-4 senior from Prosper matched a career-high with 24 points in her final regular season game, guiding the Mustangs to a 71-56 win over Oklahoma Christian on Saturday. She connected on 10-of-19 shots while grabbing nine rebounds to go along with two assists, two blocked shots and two steals. Reynolds posted her fourth double-double of the season going for 21 points and 10 rebounds while blocking three shots in a 72-59 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith on Thursday.
 
    Zamorye Roberts, West Texas A&M, led the Lady Buffs to their 18th Lone Star Conference Championship this past weekend at the First United Bank Center in Canyon with wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International. The Portales product went 17-of-46 (37.0%) from the floor, including 6-of-22 (27.3%) from deep and 7-of-8 (87.5%) from the charity stripe to average 15.7 points per game to go along with 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals. Thursday night saw the junior reach the 1,000 Career Point plateau with her 16th point of the first half in a 86-60 rout of Texas A&M-Kingsville. Roberts would finish the game with 20 points followed by 15 more on Saturday afternoon as WT claimed the top seed in this weekend's LSC Championship in Frisco.
 
    Laila Lawrence, Texas A&M-Commerce, averaged 18 points in two road wins for the Lions this weekend at Angelo State and UT Permian Basin and averaged 13.0 points in the three games overall. She had 24 points at Angelo State and 12 at UT Permian Basin, shooting 68.4 percent in the two games. She also averaged 7.5 rebounds and had a block as well. She is shooting 56.5 percent on the shooting, averaging 10 points per game and five rebounds per game in her freshman season.
 
    Juliana Robertson, Lubbock Christian, helped LCU close out the regular season with a pair of home wins, in which LCU held the opposition to under 50 points in each game. In wins over Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico, extending LCU's home win streak 103 games, Robertson led LCU in per-game averages in points (14.0), rebounds (8.0) and steals (3.0). She averaged a 27.5 plus/minus, with a +31 posted against WNMU. Robertson posted 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals against ENMU and followed with 14 points, nine rebounds and three steals against WNMU. Shot .632 (12/19) on the week and averaged 2.0 assists per game.
 
    Kryslyn Jones, Texas A&M-Kingsville, provided a plethora of offense over the week, averaging 18 points per game across a pair of road contests against West Texas A&M and Cameron. Jones logged 19 points on Thursday against the Lady Buffs, shooting 57.1 percent. In Saturday's matchup with the Aggies, Jones scored 17 in her home state, going 6-6 from the charity stripe while collecting four assists.
 
    Kendall Blackburn, Oklahoma Christian, Blackburn recorded her fourth career double-double in her final collegiate game, with 15 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in a season-ending 71-56 loss at Midwestern State on Saturday.
 
    DesiRay Kernal, Texas A&M-Commerce, averaged a double-double this past week in the three games. She scored 14 points against Texas Woman's, 17 at Angelo State, and 10 against UT Permian Basin on Saturday. She also grabbed 10 rebounds on Tuesday and matched her career-high of 17 rebounds on Thursday. She shot 70.8 percent from the field and is 17th in the conference with an average of 11.9 points per game and is averaging 7.2 rebounds per game, which is 11th in the conference.
 
    Alivia Lewis, West Texas A&M, was dominant in the paint during the final weekend of the regular season as the senior led the Lady Buffs to the program's 18th Lone Star Conference Championship with wins over Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M International at the First United Bank Center in Canyon. The Los Lunas, New Mexico product went 13-of-28 (46.4%) from the floor, including 1-of-2 (50%) from behind the arc and 4-of-5 (80%) from the free throw line to average 10.3 points per game to go along with 30 total rebounds (five offensive, 25 defensive), five assists, four steals and 12 blocks. Saturday afternoon was the senior's final game inside of the First United Bank Center and she made it count, scoring eight points while grabbing 10 rebounds and rejecting five shots as WT claimed the LSC Title and the top seed in next weekend's LSC Championship at the Comerica Center in Frisco. Lewis finished the regular season with 70 blocks to rank second in the league and 12th nationally.
 
    Stephanie Peterson, Cameron, did it all for the Aggies as they closed out the season with a 2-1 week. The third-year player averaged 11 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.67 blocks, and 3.67 steals during the three-game span. Peterson had six steals, three blocks, and eight rebounds in the win over UT Tyler, then scored 14 points and had eight rebounds, two blocks, and three steals against Texas A&M International. She finished the week with 15 points, seven boards, eight assists and two steals in a win over Texas A&M-Kingsville.
