Six LSC men's basketball teams earn regional berths

Six Lone Star Conference men’s basketball teams received postseason berths to the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Championship. Lubbock Christian was awarded the top seed and will host the South Central Regional.
 
    The Chaps will host the regional tournament for a second consecutive season in Lubbock, Texas, March 12-13-15, after hosting as a pre-determined site during the 2021 championship. LCU welcomes five other LSC teams that earned spots in the postseason including Angelo State, DBU, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and West Texas A&M.
 
    WT, who claimed the league’s automatic berth on Sunday by winning the LSC tournament, received the second seed, followed by No. 5 TAMUK, No. 6 DBU, No. 7 ASU and No. 8 TAMUC.
 
    Joining the six LSC teams are Black Hills State and Colorado Mesa.
 
    LCU will open the tournament against TAMUC, WT will face off against ASU, DBU will play BHSU and TAMUK competes against Mesa.
 
    The 2022 edition of the Division II championship returns to the full 64-team field, including eight-team regional tournaments. The winners of the eight regions will advance to the Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight in Evansville, Ind., March 22-24-26. Teams advancing to the final site will be reseeded before the quarterfinals.
