Samsung LSC Alumni Spotlight: TAMUK’s Richard Ritchie

Accomplishments at TAMUK:
  • Record as a starting quarterback was 39-0
  • Three-time NAIA National Champions (1974, 1975, 1976)
  • Three-time LSC Champions (1974, 1975, 1976)
  • 1976 NAIA Player of the Year
  • Twice named LSC Outstanding Back of the Year (1975, 1976)
 
Statistics:
  • Had 40 passing touchdowns and rushed for 19 scores in career.
  • Recorded 5,131 passing yards and 1,492 yards on the ground.
  • Kicked 137 extra points and nine field goals.
 
Where they are now:  Ritchie is a practicing lawyer in Mineral Wells, Texas and has been for over 30 years, while being an active member of the Javelina Alumni Association frequently returning to campus for games and university events.  He was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 1983, the College Football Hall of Fame in 1998, and the LSC Hall of Honor in 1999.
