LSC Football Weekly Release - Week 1

Five Lone Star Conference teams - Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico, Texas A&M-Kingsville, West Texas A&M, and Western New Mexico - started the season with wins last week.
 
      This week’s schedule includes two LSC contests and five non-conference games.
 
      LSC football teams are 5-4 overall this season.  The squads are 4-1 combined versus the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, which are also in Super Regional Four.

LSC TO HOST 2022 DIVISION II FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
The NCAA Division II Football Committee selected McKinney Independent School District Stadium in McKinney, Texas, as the host site of the 2022-25 Division II football national championship games. 
 
      McKinney ISD Stadium and Community Event Center, a 12,000-seat facility built primarily for football, will host the Division II Football Championship games on December 17, 2022; December 16, 2023; December 21, 2024; and December 20, 2025. 
 
      The Lone Star Conference in conjunction with McKinney ISD hosted the 2018, 2019, and 2021 championship games.
 
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Asa Wondeh, Eastern New Mexico, JR, Communications, WR, Vacaville, CA, Will C. Wood HS
Wondeh recorded two receiving touchdowns in the 34-18 win over New Mexico Highlands.  The junior had seven receptions for 189 yards with TDs of 50 and 44 yards.  Added punt return for 45 yards in first game as a Greyhound.
 
DEFENSIVE
Jordan McKinney, Angelo State, SO, Health Science, CB, Waco, Texas, La Vega HS
McKinney helped the Rams to a shutout in their 35-0 victory over Chadron State to begin the season. McKinney recorded three tackles while also returning an interception 41-yards for a touchdown. The Rams allowed only 224 yards of total offense while keeping the Eagles out of the endzone.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
Cooper Hamilton, Eastern New Mexico, SO, Accounting, K, Lubbock, Texas, Coronado HS
Hamilton had a perfect night connecting on two field goals and four extra points in the 34-18 victory over New Mexico Highlands.  Hit a 32-yard field goal to put ENMU ahead in the first quarter and added a 39-yarder for a 20-10 lead in the third.
