UTPB (6-1 overall, 4-0 LSC) and CWU (5-2, 5-0) are the only conference teams unbeaten in league play. Both have won five consecutive games. ASU (4-2, 3-1 LSC) has reeled off three straight victories.
UTPB owns the league’s top total offense (494.6 yards per game), while Angelo State has the conference’s top total defense (249.2 ypg). UTPB is scoring a league-high 50.3 points per game, while ASU is allowing a conference low 18.5 ppg. The two squads face off this week in San Angelo, Texas.

OFFENSIVE
Nemier Herod, UT Permian Basin, Jr., Computer Science, RB, Teague, Texas, THS
Herod ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns on 12 carries to lead UT Permian Basin to a 52-29 win over Eastern New Mexico. Herod, who had a 71-yard TD run, scored in every quarter except the first. He helped the Falcons stay unbeaten in LSC play and win their fifth straight game. Herod has 10 rushing TDs on the season, which leads the conference.
DEFENSIVE
Andrew Pitts, Angelo State, Jr., Kinesiology, CB, McKinney, Texas, MHS
Pitts made a team-high nine tackles – seven solo – with one interception and a half sack to help nationally-ranked Angelo State earn a 38-16 road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville. Pitts, who also had a half tackle for loss and a pass break-up, led a unit that held the Javelinas to 267 yards of total offense. The 16 points were the lowest allowed to them all season. Pitts, who returned his interception 18 yards, also helped the Rams win their third straight game.

Stewart averaged 42.3 yards on six punts to help Central Washington to a 10-7 road win over Midwestern State. Stewart’s long boom was 54 yards and he pinned one inside the 20-yard line. Stewart is averaging 41 yards per punt this season and has a league-high 12 inside the 20.
