UT Permian Basin, No. 20 Angelo State, Western Oregon and Central Washington all earned Week 5 wins. UTPB was the only home team to prevail. It was also the Falcons’ first win over a Top 25 opponent in program history (29-17 over No. 16 Texas A&M-Kingsville). Midwestern State had a bye. To read the recaps, click here.
 
UTPB (4-1 overall, 2-0 LSC) and Central Washington (3-2, 3-0) are the only conference teams unbeaten in league play. Both have won three consecutive games.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

OFFENSIVE
Tyler Flanagan, Central Washington, So., Occupational Safety Healthy & Management, RB, Woodland, Wash., WHS
Flanagan ran for 143 yards and four touchdowns on just 14 carries to help lead Central Washington to a conference road win over Western New Mexico. Flanagan had a TD run in each quarter of the game. His longest rush went for 55 yards. Flanagan, whose four TDs is the most in a single game in the conference this season, is averaging 91.4 yards per game.
 
DEFENSIVE
Tanner Volk, Central Washington, Jr., Business, S, Portland, Ore., Aloha HS
Volk had two interceptions – for the third consecutive game – and led Central Washington to a conference road win over Western New Mexico. Volk, who takes the league’s top defensive award for the third consecutive week, added seven tackles and one pass break-up. Volk leads all of NCAA – any division – with seven interceptions. The next closest is five.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS
Sergio Landeros, UT Permian Basin, Gr., MBA, P, Seminole, Texas, SHS
Landeros averaged 45.8 yards on four punts – with a long boom of 50 yards and pinning two on the 1-yard line – to help UT Permian Basin defeat nationally-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville. One of Landeros’ punts that went to the 1-yard line came in the fourth quarter and led to a safety that secured the Falcons’ first win over a ranked opponent in program history. Landeros is averaging 45.2 yards per punt on the season.
