A sweep of the top three individual places at the Lone Star Conference Women's Cross Country Championships and set the tone for West Texas A&M who collected its third league crown on Saturday at the Eastern New Mexico University Cross Country Course in Portales, N.M.
The Lady Buffs totaled 20 points, sparked by individual medalist Eleonora Curtabbi (first, 20:27.91), LSC Newcomer of the Year Elisa Leveel (second, 21:13.39) and LSC Freshman of the Year Sarah Koomson (third, 21:33.38) with Oliva McClain (sixth) and and Betty Bajika (eighth) completing the scoring runners. The 20 team points are the fourth-lowest team score in the LSC championships history, matching former member Abilene Christian with 20 points in both 1989 and 1993.

Three top 10 individual finishers -- Jenna Howard (fourth), Kaycee Keller (fifth) and Lesli Salas (seventh) – led Dallas Baptist to second place (50). Midwestern State placed third in the 14-team race (112) followed by St. Edward's (147), Oklahoma Christian (168), Angelo State (170), Lubbock Christian (224), Cameron (226), Western New Mexico (249) and UT Tyler (249) followed in fourth through 10th places.
UAFS (271), Texas A&M International (290), Eastern New Mexico (352) and UT Permian Basin (381) completed team scoring. Texas A&M-Kingsville runners competed as individuals.
In addition to the individual awards, the all-conference honorees were announced and included Jenna Howard, Kaycee Keller, Lesli Salas and Megan Smith of Dallas Baptist; Madelyn Merrell, Lubbock Christian; Ella Pando, Midwestern State; Andrea Garcia Gonzalez, Oklahoma Christian; Beverlyne Kipchumba, Texas A&M International; and, Curtabbi, Leveel, Koomson, McLain, Bajika, Lexi Mauland and Raquel Chavez of West Texas A&M.
Next Up: Lone Star Conference women's cross country teams set sights on the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Cross Country Championships on November 4. The meet will be held in Lubbock, Texas and hosted by Lubbock Christian University.
