Angelo State senior midfielder Mia Czarnecki picked up Lone Star Conference Women’s Soccer Academic Player of the Year honors to headline the women’s soccer academic awards, it was announced by league officials Thursday (Nov. 8).
Czarnecki, who is from Austin, Texas and majoring in Business Data Science & Analytics, boasts a 4.0 grade-point average. She was a 2022-23 D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award winner. Czarnecki had two goals – one game-winner – and a team-high five assists to help the Rambelles advance to the LSC Championship.
Czarnecki was joined on the academic team by DBU’s Rachel Allen, Parker Cow, Kaleigh Naizer and Sophia Schrock, Eastern New Mexico’s Samantha Jeffries, Lubbock Christian’s Lexi De La Cruz, Oklahoma Christian’s Raquel Fanelli and Ellise Foreman, St. Mary’s Juni Ejere and Texas Woman’s Hayley Masoner.
Naizer, Schrock and Jeffries were also All-Academic Team selections last year.
The All-Academic team is chosen by the league’s sports information directors, who select players on the basis of both athletic and academic achievement. To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must have played in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests, reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, completed at least one full academic year at the nominating institution and have a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average based on the 4.0 system for their entire collegiate career.
