LSC Women's Basketball Weekly Release - Week 13

Eastern New Mexico, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas Woman's, West Texas A&M, and Western New Mexico each went 2-0 in Lone Star Conference contests last week.  TWU remains unbeaten in conference (16-0) and divisional play (10-0).
 
      LSC games continue this week with each team playing a double round-robin schedule within their eight-team division. Additionally, teams will play eight crossover competitions against teams from the opposite division for a total of 22 conference games.
 
      The LSC Women’s Basketball Championship will feature an eight-team field in 2023 with seeding based on the 22 conference games. The divisional winners will receive the top two seeds in the tournament. The championships are set to take place March 2-3-4-5, 2023, at the Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas.
 
      LSC women’s basketball teams are 191-171 overall and 22-16 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the other league in the South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE

Himeur guided the Lady Buffs to a pair of LSC divisional wins this past weekend at the First United Bank Center as WT ran their home win streak to 25 games with victories over UT Permian Basin and No. 20 Angelo State.  Himeur played the most complete game of her career on Saturday afternoon against the Rambelles, going 7-of-14 from the floor including 4-of-9 from behind the arc and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line for a career-high 23 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists.  She added 10 points versus the Falcons.  The sophomore from Albuquerque went 11-of-25 (44%) from the floor including 5-of-13 (38.5%) from deep and 6-of-7 (85.7%) from the free throw line to average 16.5 points per game to go along with five rebounds, three assists and a block. 
 
DEFENSIVE
Karley Motschenbacher, West Texas A&M, SO, Business, Guard, Moorhead, Minnesota, Park Christian
Motschenbacher continued to lead the Lady Buffs on both ends of the floor this past weekend as they picked up wins over UT Permian Basin and No. 20 Angelo State in LSC divisional action at the First United Bank Center to run WT's home win streak to 25 games.  Against ASU, she grabbed 17 total rebounds, which matches the most in the LSC this year, in her 32 minutes of action to tie for fourth on WT's single-game rebounds list and finish just four away of a new record. The Lady Buffs picked up an 80-64 win over the Rambelles who entered atop of the divisional standings.  She added six boards versus the Falcons.  The sophomore guard from Moorhead, Minnesota recorded 23 rebounds (eight offensive, 15 defensive), six assists and two steals and averaged 15.0 points per game for the week.
